location module

Saludos a la comunidad de drupaleros en Mexico soy un Drupalero mexicano que
me vine hace poco a vivir a UK y tube poca oportunidad de contactar al comunidad drupal en México y bueno ahora lo hago necesito un poco de ayuda estoy desarrollando un sitio para mexico y sus estado con drupal es para generar un sitio donde la gente pueda guardar a través de nodos información de lugares donde se pueden reciclar diferentes tipos de desperdicios si como su direccion y un mapa de su ubicación

2. Prelim with Google:
Create a Google account. If you are using GMail or Google Analytics you probably already have one.
Get a Google Maps API: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html
Save the API key as you will need it later.

3. In Drupal:

I have a project that needs to describe geographic "regions" (shape) and map them. I like the ability of the location module to do exactly that for a "point" (latitude/longitude). Is there a module that does the same thing for a region?

Could that be built on top of location?

I help maintain a site that relies heavily on Location, and locative information in general. In a set of changes I'm working on, I am trying to add in search, and have found that locations are not part of the site index. For this case, I don't need proximity, or geospatial searching, and am interested in discussing approaches for a simple location search.
