Ok this month we got a great one. Joshua Turton from Phase2 Technology is coming down to talk about the Omega Theme and how to get a site setup in about 45 minutes. Omega is a really cool theme to work with.

This session will cover the basics of using Omega to build a responsive, grid-based layout without writing a line of code. We will cover conceptualization, theme settings, zone/region/section distinction, and configuration management.

It will also cover the newest features available from version 4.x, now in alpha release

Drupal 8 has a new theme engine: Twig. Twig provides several advantages over PHPtemplate, our previous theme engine, including: Security, Performance (probably), and Ease of Use.

In this session We'll point out some of the problems we faced with PHPTemplate and Renderables, and show how these issues are being addressed through the move to Twig. There's still a lot to do, and some things we still haven't decided on yet, but we're definitely making progress.
