We held our Broward Drupal monthly meetup on Wednesday, August 13th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Remote participant(via WebEx, Skype and Join.me):
Orlando - Deborah Wilson, Patricia Mathews
Minneapolis - Keri Poeppe (Gorton Studios)
In Person (Greater Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Florida):
Carlos Kosloff @asrealty, Jay Epstein @jeppy64 and me @hectoriribarne
This month Keri Poeppe (http://GortonStudios.com a.k.a. http://www.NodeSquirrel.com/) presented "Drupal Emergency Preparedness". Keri was kind enough to present remotely via WebEx for our meetup. It is this kind of collaboration for one user group to share their knowledge with another one that makes the Drupal Community so great. Thanks to Keri and Gorton Studios!
Keri covered the following topics during her presentation:
- What can go wrong
- Disaster Recovery Plans
- What you need to do (Prevent, Detect and Correct)
- Drupal Security
- Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)
- Uptime and Application Monitors
- Server/Application/Content Backup (of all the options, I found Node Squirrel to be a no brainer, IMHO).
- On-Site/Off-site Backup
- Having a written plan
The slides for Keri's presentation can be found below. Also, you can checkout the Node Squirrel fact sheet that has information on Backup & Migrate.
After Keri's presentation, Jay talked answered some questions about his Parent/Child data model. As usual, he blew our minds with the continual evolution of his model.
We had one remote presenter via WebEx, two remote participants via Skype/Join.me (for Jay's Q&A) and three in the meeting room.
