Would you migrate your Commons site to Drupal 7
Commons on D7: Theme
The port of Commons to Drupal 7 will begin shortly so I think it is time to start some discussions on the theming aspects. Probably the best way to begin would be with me giving my opinions and then we can go from there.
Read moreCommons on D7 : Define a Minimally Viable Product (MVP)
We are interviewing Commons communities and doing research on successful Commons and social business communities. We are specifically looking for community feedback on what constitutes an MVP for Commons. This will help define an initial release of Commons on D7 and allow early, continual feedback in shaping the future of Commons!

Commons 2.5 was released today. This is a significant release for a number of reasons, including some significant UX improvements. We also added Question & Answer functionality which is very important for both internal and external communities. There was a significant UX focus on this release with usability testing being very helpful. This was very informative and initiated a change in login/landing on the Activity Stream to a site landing page. This was validated in the usability testing, discussions with users and a survey of successful community sites.

How to update
Hello
I have just received notification from my website that a security update has been issued by acquia to v 6.x-2.4.
I downloaded the update but it seems not to contain any code.
What should I do? I do not want to download the whole system and overwrite any changes I may have made.
Advice please.
Andrew
Read morenew install -> no theme & style - problem and solution !
hello dear developer hello dear users - good day all!
first of all i have a drupal commons installed - and i do not have any style at http://campus-24.com/ see the of the current status description here:
if you installed a commons and do not have a theme / nor a style just head over and read this: http://commons.acquia.com/discussion/no-theme-new-install and http://commons.acquia.com/discussion/no-theme-new-install#comment-15346
also had the same problem and it was solved by disabling CSS Optimizaition. checked all my CSS under /profiles/drupalcommons/themes, and all are UTF-8. You also might find an answer http://drupal.org/node/445462 You just have to convert all your css files in unix/utf8 and it's done.
Read moreCommona modules would not update using localization update
Hi,
This is my first post on drupal.org, so hi everyone and nice to meet you :)
I'm localizing Commons to Hebrew at http://hakaveret.org.il and using i18n, l10n update and l10n client modules.
I've managed to fetch .po localization files for all module except the commons modules. I've read somewhere that disabling the commons update module would resolve the issues, but that didn't work either.
drupal-commons: pure vanilla install ended up with some terrifiying errors [with online-example]
evening dear drupal-friends
pretty new to drupal and also [pretty] new to this forum - so do not bear with me. Sorry for the newbie-questions... or just visit the site - http://campus-24.com/?q=stream and http://campus-24.com/ to get a first glance of what happened. with the installation of drupal-commons.
But - nonetheless the installation-process was continued and fulfilled - i was able to choose all options and configuration-steps. Interesting detail: There were onle 149 tables been created - not 154 like yesterday on the local installation. !?! Interesting - isnt it?!

New custom block fails - php error
Hello
I have discovered the use of context to change the homepage etc.
I wanted to add a custom box. I added the custom box in the context page.
I then went to the home page and tried to edit the box (clicking on the wheel box in the top right-hand corner).
I entered information but noticed that there was no way of adding content.
I saved the box and got a php error (see next line):
Fatal error: Call to a member function save() on a non-object in /home/xyz/public_html/ljunction.com/commons/profiles/drupal_commons/modules/contrib/boxes/boxes.module on line 94
Read moreProblem with Blocks management
Hello
I have a new installation of Commons and am also a new user of Drupal.
I would like to change the block configuration and add blocks to various pages. I go to Administer > Site Building > Blocks and can add blocks to where I want them. However, I cannot move them up or down. It is clear to me that Commons is pre-configured but it is also clear that I can add new blocks and, perhaps, change the default layout.

Read morePrivate groups invisible to its own members?
I created a "strictly" private group on my commons installation and prevented the group to be listed on the front page. Members were added to the group by the group manager. However, members cannot see the group listed on their front page, nor is it appearing in the "My Stuff>>My groups" or in the "Community>>Groups" pages. In other words, the group is completely invisible to everyone, including its own members. How can I make it visible to members and invisible to everyone else?
Read morewhy why why
Why close most of the groups on commons.acquia.com and then create a group on groups.drupal.com? Is commons not worth using? This is crazy! Honestly, someone please explain to me the logic of this. The community that was using commons and sharing info to improve it seems to have shrunk dramatically as a result.
