Hello, with the Drupal 7 RC1 out it's time to gear up the public relations effort. This is a webex meeting. Log into the webex to get the conference call details. Call in details have been sent to those who signed up.

Conference call

Hi, based on how many people indicate they will attend we will set-up the appropriate sized conference call and webex. If it's four people, we can use my conference line. If it's <25 people I can use a work conference line. If it's more than 25 people, I'll get something appropriate for that audience.

I know the announcement will be posted at Drupal.org (and I've offered to help on that as well), but please consider doing a press release for wider, IT industry pick-up
- a press release for ~$250 from a single US city has equivalent impact to a national distribution
- My firm may be able to get the press release issued for free if we play on our Drupal Association membership and send it through our vendor, Marketwire

I see the Drupal.org announcement post as comprehensive. A press release should be a teaser, drawing interested audiences to the Drupal.org post, success stories, and any agreed-upon spokespersons.

I'd like to help out with this; I've already spent sometime working with yoroy & Bojhan on the release announcement.

I should be able to be on the call depending on how my work schedule matches with the time on 12/9 or 12/10 that it is scheduled.

We could help with German / Bulgarian translation. Posting, blogging and spreading the word.... There is the idea to create a website with maps around the release and to show organized parties, that are organized trough local user groups, companies,...

Just to make sure I understand current situation correctly: is there already an English version of PR somewhere? Release announcement seems to be a work-in-progress, so where and when are you people planning to post the translated versions?

Sorry I missed the call. I misread the date update, and didn't check that email account to see the call details until later in the day. If I have time on Saturday, the main thing I will do is to continue to refine the release announcement yoroy started working on in a wiki (http://groups.drupal.org/node/103879).

Correlate core contributors to countries

One idea that was mentioned was to name key people from the
communities in the respective countries in press releases.

Release Date and party worldwide

the tentative date is Friday, first week of january. There will be a follow up meeting to this one
before the end of the year, where I think we know more of when D7 is
released (Webchick gave feedback on this).
But all in all, we all agree and like the idea to have: one day
worldwide dedicated to celebrating D7 release

we want http://www.drupal7releaseparty.org/ to go international

that means a worldwide map where everyone can enter their location
(Angie really really loves it) ---> for encouragement of those working
on it ;-)

Sorry. But what does this mean? Who will do what? We cant translate something that is non-existent. I see no activity on the wiki or issue queue, which to me means - nothing is happening.

Hi all,

Since we're planning parties everywhere, would it be an idea to have someone (Angie?) do an official webcast announcing the birth of D7?

It would enable geeks around the world to gather around a beamer and a screen, and then drink beer. And as we all know, we love beamers, geeks and beer! ;)
