Utah Drupal Tank
Hey everybody. I know I got involved awhile back and haven't showed up to any meetings yet, but I've got some commitment from our whole team at ODIN Development now to sponsor a meeting place and regular meetings down in Utah County. We've actually revisited our business plan and have decided to make Drupal a huge part of it. In doing so we want to get a lot more involved in the local Drupal community and global one. Everyone and anyone who can make it is invited. I thought we could dub our office the "Utah Drupal Tank" or some cheesy name like that. We're hoping to meet regularly, at least once a month if not more. We want to create a Drupal Mecca of sorts.
Our office is in American Fork in the Goyin building if anyone knows where that is. I'll put the address out later. We've got multiple smaller offices available along with a big conference room, kitchen, and a central meeting place where we could fit even more people than in our conference room. Reply and let me know if you are interested. Just a simple "I AM".
What do you think about the "Utah Drupal Tank"? Any other suggestions?
We can still have the other meetings but we would like to put together some curriculum that we can count on and plan. It might even be nice to bring some of our clients in to get trained on Drupal site management and stuff. Anyways, I'll stop rambling. Give me any feedback you have.

Brandon, I don't know, "Utah
Brandon,
I don't know, "Utah Drupal Tank" is a big title, you're gonna have to show that you can back that up! :) I actually think it's great that ODIN is getting more involved in Drupal and am excited to see what happens. I think meeting once a month or more might be pushing it for me, but I'm just one of many, so let's see what others say.
Chuck
I am! However, I think once
I am!
However, I think once a month out in American Fork may see sporadic attendance. I think maybe switching between SL County and Utah County (and Davis County if we got the support there) would be the best option. Well, since last time got mixed up with a meeting place and I ended up never making it, I can still do a little presentation on Validation API to add to the content of the meeting.
You can count me in.
In the last meeting we talked about how to improve attendance. One thing we thought might help would to have a regular time and date to meet ...
Have a few meetings and see how it goes.
Thanks!
Kevin
I'm at BYU and there's
I'm at BYU and there's actually quite a few students here interested in Drupal. I think American Fork meetings would help get more of them to attend. The Island Drupal group, for example, has 23 members (https://island.byu.edu/group/drupal).

Would attend an american fork meeting
we have a large drupal project in the near future and would have 3 or 4 developers willing to attend a meeting in American Fork.
Date & Time
OK. We have things scheduled. We'll get the details put together in the next week or so with a specific agenda. Any suggestions are welcome to what you would like to see happen at the meeting.
Here is a Google Calendar Link. Drupal Tank.
I'll also create an event.
We are scheduling it on:
Tuesday
November 18th at
6:30PM to 7:30PM
at the
ODIN Office
772 E Utah Valley Drive Suite 200
American Fork, UT 84003
The map to the ODIN Office is listed at the Google Calendar entry above. Let me know if you have any questions. We are planning on holding these meetings here every month on the third Tuesday. If you can make it great.
We appreciate the feedback. This is for all that can come. It is not an official Drupal Group event but we're hoping to get everyone all out here that can make it.

A problem I see with that
A problem I see with that timing is people trying to get there from the north on I-15. I am assuming the point of the mountain is a troubling feat around that time still from rush hour. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. If not, what about starting a little later?
Hour Later
Do you think an hour later would be a better time? We are just trying to find the best time for all without having to hold a two week conversation about it. Maybe I'll poll it and see what people think.

I think even 30 minutes
I think even 30 minutes later would make a big difference for those of us driving from the North. If we start at 7pm I'm guessing the 6:30 traffic through south salt lake and around point of the mountain won't be too bad. But I'm in Davis County, so what do I know! :) Can anyone back that up?
Chuck
Understand
Chuck,
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry I didn't mean to come off acting like everything takes two weeks to do. I just wanted to make sure we made things happen quick. I think we may readjust it to 30 minutes later if that creates more attendance. You comment was exactly what I was looking for.

Im just trying to maximize
Im just trying to maximize attendees, by adjusting time. I hope to not turn this into a 2-week battle for a time-slot. I am fine with anytime 6:30 and on. 7PM sounds like the best time for a weekday-night though.
I can make it at 7pm
I will be there at 7pm
Are you taking any suggestions for agenda topics?
7PM
OK. I think we may update it to 7PM. I'll update everything and make an official post if we do. I'll throw a poll up now too just to see what other people think.

Topics
We have some ideas on topics. But we will take any suggestions. Especially if someone already has some stuff prepared that they could share. I thought it might be good to do some organization of a curriculum of sorts that we could use and stick to. Right now we have the meetings scheduled consistently every month for the third Tuesday but if we end up with enough participation and support to learn and gather more often we can even adjust that. Even if it's a "workshop" type of meeting of sorts.
We are getting crazy serious about things down here :) .

Sounds great. I appreciate
Sounds great. I appreciate the initiative you took to just get this going. That is where I lacked when I was trying to set it up a month ago.
Updated to 7PM
We've updated the meeting to 7PM due to feedback and to help those that are commuting.

Tentative RSVP
I may. I still need to clear the schedule with my family, but I'm 90% sure.
Anyone want to car-pool from Provo? Contact me.
RSVP
I will plan on coming at 7:00 as well. I look forward to meeting more of you.

North-side meeting
I guess not many drupalers on the north side like in Layton/Ogden.
I'm in Logan, there's no way.
Drupalers up North
How many Drupalers are coming from the North? I know that cachilupi is coming from the North. Any others? We could do a carpool, but that would mean that the Logan/Ogden area Drupalers wouldn't get home till really late. Any ideas? There are a lot of Drupalers down south so it makes more sense for them to do one, but as far as we're concerned it's next to impossible unless it's on a Saturday. I may need to sit this one out, but we'll just have to see.
Andrew (amariotti)
I am interested. I'm coming
I am interested. I'm coming from BYU as well (will probably carpool with Kyle).
I think Utah Drupal Tank is an adequate name.
