Austin Drupal Meetup - Jan. 10th at Gingerman

Nick Lewis and I were talking in #drupal and came to an agreement that we should revive the Austin Drupal meetup idea. We'll be meeting on Wednesday, January 10th at 7pm at Gingerman (downtown on 4th street). They have free wireless internet so bring your laptop if you like.

Hopefully by that time there might even be a Drupal 5.0 release! Also I believe there is another League of Technical Voters Codeathon planned for February 3rd (only 24 hours this time).

I could probably be talked out of my hole for something like that. But doesnt Gingerman on 4th Street sound like tastier beer? I can just taste the Pyramid Snow Cap Ale on my tongue. In all seriousness though count me in where ever it is held. Assuming there is a reminder between then and now. -mf

Sure, if Gingerman is preferred we can have it there - either place is fine with me. Maybe we should hold a poll to figure out the ideal location.

hey fellas.. Would it be worth an evening's cruise in from Bryan to meet up at this one, or are there typically more eventful events easier to justify to my wife and 1yr old? I would love to see some activity and meet other drupalers..

ok, boo-- I don't think I can make it down this time.. If a chance gale force wind blows me west, I'll show, but do please plan to have another in the near future that I could try to attend. Bryan is not that far, but it's still a distance for me to consider.

It would be nice to get a few Central Texas Drupal users/developers together in Austin for our 1st meeting. Wednesday, January 10th at around 7pm sounds good. We can talk about Drupal, coding, the marketplace, etc.

Yeah there will be lots of people with laptops at Spiderhouse, and they do have wireless. I'm not sure about Gingerman though.

Seems I found this group just in time. I'll try to join you in the Gingerman - I've long wanted to meet some local drupalers. The only downside with the Gingerman is that it can get noisy - we might want to adjourn to the Halcyon if there's a band playing or metal-head behind the bar.

This is a great idea. I'd love to be there, but it looks like I'll be out of town overnight. I know some others who are interested, too, and would come to a later meeting.

We had 11 folks at our first Austin Meetup and it was a pleasure meeting everyone! In addition to putting some faces to names, it was great looking at some of the websites y'all have been working on - they look terrific!!! I want to thank the kind folks that spent time explaining the various modules and code they used on their respective web sites - you know who you are! :)

I'm looking forward to our next Austin Meetup and am thinking we should try and do this once a month. Please be sure to fill out this poll which asks you to vote on the best day and time for my proposed monthly get-together.
