List of events at http://groups.drupal.org/la/events is out of date

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Update: Due to lack of activity on the topic, I've started a new wiki page that makes it easier for everyone to find meetups and groups in the area and update that information as locations and schedules change:  http://groups.drupal.org/node/246793

It was mentioned during tonight's meetup that the GDO/LA site lists all the meetups in the Los Angeles area. I noticed when I checked, though, that the list is out of date. Here are some corrections:

  1. The San Gabriel Valley group is at http://groups.drupal.org/sgv (not http://groups.drupal.org/taxonomy/term/24093) and meets on the 4th Thursday of every month.
  2. The High Performance Drupal group is not regional and does not meet exclusively on the Westside.
  3. The Pro Drupal 7 Development Book Study Group meets weekly in Downtown Los Angeles.
  4. The Downtown Los Angeles Drupal group at http://groups.drupal.org/dtla isn't listed under "Nearby Meetups and Groups".

What's the process for requesting changes to that list? Thanks in advance.

Many thanks to the person who went to the effort of fixing #2 listed above. Are there any questions about #1, #3 and #4 before those are fixed, too?

4 and #1 have been updated as

4 and #1 have been updated as well. I added SVG to the list and replace the first "Near Downtown LA" with DTLA group info and meeting date. The second reference to "Near Downtown LA" I think is duplicitous but I left it in until someone else pokes to have it removed. Now that DTLA is in there is there any reason to keep the final "Near Downtown" li in the header of the events page?

As far as #3 goes, it is heavily referenced in the DTLA threads as well as cross posted in the LA group so I didn't see the need to include it with the "Meetup" listings.

Thanks for taking the time to

Thanks for taking the time to get to this, stevenator. Can you add the SGV Drupal meetups to the other list?

The other mention of Downtown Los Angeles is not duplicitous but rather a reference to the startups work sessions we've been having on the last Saturday of each month.

As far as #3 goes, it is heavily referenced in the DTLA threads as well as cross posted in the LA group so I didn't see the need to include it with the "Meetup" listings.

I honestly don't understand what criteria is being used here to decide which meetups are being listed and which ones — like the Pro Drupal 7 Development book study group — are not.

Rather than argue the merits of each meetup and how and why they should be listed, my preference right now is simply to request that the panel pane that lists those meetups be changed to an embedded wiki that the community can edit.

This is not a complaint of anyone's actions but an observation that curating this high volume of information is a big responsibility and I think it would be easier to let the organizers and attendees of the meetups in question curate the information for all to enjoy.
