User group meeting
One of my sites recently got audited by a third party for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Most things I already new but there were a few interesting surprises. I thought sharing what I learned would be a great launching point for our meeting.
Please do bring your own agenda, questions, answers and friends.

Where are the Iowa Drupal Users Group meetings held?
iMed Studios

What's the typical attendance of these meetings?
Ninjas and Newbies working together
The attendance dips in the summer but should be picking back up over the next few months. We usually have 6-12 but the group is still growing. We have only been active for about a year and pick up a new member or two each month. You should come check it out for yourself. The group does a really great job of supporting Ninjas and Newbies. We have some regular heavy hitters that really makes it worth it. Cheers. Hope to see you soon.

It's a 3 hour drive for me
It's a 3 hour drive for me but I'm very interested in connecting with some regional Drupal developers.
Why Ames? And not say Des Moines or Iowa City? I'm new to Iowa (moved from Seattle) and just curious about Ames. Tech center? Drupal hot spot? ??
3 Hours?
Not many places in Iowa that are 3 hours from Ames... Quad Cities, Sioux City? It would be virtually impossible to get any closer to the center of the state and find a resource like iMed and this Drupal community.
If you're coming from the east and if Toledo (interesection of US 63 and US 30) isn't out of the way then I could offer you a ride for the last 60 miles. I try to make the trip each month and the drive isn't too bad. I've driven it many times... got my BS in engineering from ISU and my sister lives about 1/2 mile from iMed so it's easy for me to find an excuse to drop in and learn somehting from the group.

Google Maps put it at just under 3 hours from Fairfield, Iowa (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Fairfield,+IA+52556&dad...). [and no I'm not a meditator].
So maybe it's 2.5 hrs.
I'm new to Iowa; don't know anything about iMed or the quality/quantity of the Drupal community in Iowa.
I worked for Microsoft, Disney Internet Group (ESPN.com, Movies.com, ABCNews.com) and a couple start-ups during my 15 years in Seattle. Working about 80% in Java, 20% in RoR. I moved to Iowa for family reasons and founded a startup here in Fairfield nearly 3 years ago. We had a good run but suffered badly when the economy tanked. I'm involved with a couple new ventures and have decided to build on Drupal. There's a lot of Drupal coders available oversees that I've contracted the past year, and while I'm not 100% happy with the work they've produced (or surprised with the lack of quality), I am having a hard time building a team in Iowa. This wouldn't be an issue in Seattle (for instance), so I'm trying to find a group I can network with locally and share ideas, learn from other's experiences and hopefully find some developers to work with.
I only recently found this Iowa Drupal Group.
