Los Angeles

Welcome L.A. Drupallers!

This site is the hub for Drupal users and their fans in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas to network and collaborate; including Orange County, SGV, SFV, Inland Empire, and the whole of Southern California. We encourage open exchanges of ideas, especially those that take place in our regular face-to-face meetings, while we all promote a greater sense of community for us local "node-monkeys" and "pixel-lovers."

Sign up here, then drop by our other site at LAdrupal.org to see how excellent our community is.

Some of us frequent the live online chat (IRC channel) #drupal-LA and we recommend folks watch videos and archived L.A. meetings.

Linux Admin | The Recording Academy

Employment type:
Contract
Telecommute:

The GRAMMYs, based in Santa Monica, need a freelance Linux admin to help us set up a Web sandbox that mimics the live host for a soon-to-launch Drupal site. We're looking for someone to spend a few days to a week getting the box set-up and handing the reins over to our IT Team (which is new to LAMP stacks.) The ideal candidate knows Debian Linux 64-bit, Apache Solr Search, MySQL, PHP, memcache and, of course, has lots of experience building boxes for Drupal.

Possible ongoing freelance role applying patches, upgrades, etc.

Drop an e-mail to kevin dot colligan at grammy dot com.

VozMob 0.2

Hi all,

We recently completed several new features over at VozMob (http://vozmob.net). VozMob stands for mobile voices / voces moviles, it's mobile blogging that lets users post text, photo, video, and audio via sms, mms, and phone calls (no data plan or app download needed). You can find our full release 0.2 on github: http://code.vozmob.net.

New features that are tested and now live:

How to create video that overlays the page?

I saw a feature on a TV news station site that basically was a video of a woman and her daughter talking. It was green-screened and laid over the main news page. It was a 10 sec spot highlighting something in the community. Sorry, I can't seem to find the site.

Is there a module built that can allow me to do something like that?

Thanks.

SANDCamp 2010

Start:
2010-01-23 09:00 - 2010-01-24 17:00 America/Los_Angeles

If you've never been to a Drupalcamp before, just reading up on some basic information can get you up to speed. Firstly, we love to show support to people who are new to Drupal, it's how we keep our community thriving. You can expect to get lots of help and guidance from Drupal veterans who want to help you get familiar with Drupal. Lots of first timers actually get up and propose their own session idea even if they've never been to a camp before.

An issue when using Advanced Profile Kit

I'm attempting to implement the Advanced Profile Kit module with my site and out of the box, it is working fine. But when I attempt to make changes to the content in Panels I get a white/blank screen.

I'm using the latest version of APK and Panels.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks,
Joe

Anyone know of a good counter-article Chris Wilson's ignorant Slate article?

In case you didn't catch it, on Oct. 27 Chris Wilson posted a very ignorant article on Slate criticizing the Obama administration's choice of Drupal for whitehouse.gov (the title is "Why running the White House Web site on Drupal is a political disaster waiting to happen" - but I won't be linking to it here, it doesn't deserve a link). Anyone who knows Drupal will read the article and feel that he's just making stuff up. The article is a big "huh?!" His comments have no correlation to an actual experience with Drupal and the Drupal community!

ladrupal.org site build working meeting

Start:
2009-12-11 19:00 - 22:30 America/Los_Angeles
Organizers:

The group rebuilding the ladrupal.org site will be meeting in the evening on Dec. 11th at Rain's in Glendale.

This will be a working meeting -- we'll actually be working together on the build itself.

Please RSVP if you intend to come, and contact Rain directly for directions. I need a head count (to make sure my place isn't too small, though I can fit a fair number comfortably :)

We already have the sitemap, enough of a wireframe to move forward, and a detailed outline of the content types we'll be building.

Popup Feedback Forms Lightbox?

Hi,

Does anybody have any ideas on how to create a form that pops up in lightbox? I am using Drupal 6, webforms and lightbox module. Ideally only the form fields should show in the lightbox as opposed to the entire web page (see attached). Webforms is ideal since I am using the Saleforce module in conjunction.

Any insight would be fully appreciated.

Thanks a bunch.

New CCK node type input form needs to have embedded Biblio input form

A new content type, call it typ1, has an input form that needs to have an input form for 3 or more fields from the Biblio module (recent release last week exposed fields to view - or use old biblio input form). Now, the typ1 input form needs to have multiple biblio references, from 2 to 5 of them. I'd like to use CCK's multiple mode as well. I'm willing to code the override node-form-*.tpl.php, and I suppose I would use the function drupal_get_form? (found at http://thedrupalblog.com/embedded-cck-node-form-collapsible-fieldset).
