As my mentor once said, always know (have) your agenda! Well now its your turn. Bring your agenda to our next meeting and you might get your issues addressed.
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Here's a (big) hint at my agenda: http://drupalcorn.org
Hello Michael,
Thank you for your application to the Free Acquia Hosting program. We are happy to inform you that DrupalCamp Iowa has been approved and we would like to get you up and running on Acquia Hosting in the near future. Acquia provides a shared hosting, high availability environment that is optimized for Drupal.
What your Free Hosting subscription includes:
-1 Slice of Acquia Hosting (500,000 page views / mo)
-100 GB of bandwidth
-150 GB of storage
-A functional staging environment
-Code and revision control via SVN
-nightly site backups
Acquia Hosting Constraints:
Acquia Hosting is built in around a shared high-availability cluster architecture. The nature of shared server environments is such that normal access to stack components must be constrained to preserve the integrity of the shared environment. For this reason, module/code management is handled only via SVN and command line access is not allowed. Public, private and import files directories are made available uploading and downloading files to them using scp or rsych. Logs may also be downloaded with scp from your site's designated log location.
Next Steps:
Before we can begin the process of migrating your site, there are a few more steps we must take:
- Signed Free Acquia Hosting agreement. Within the next few weeks we will be sending you a copy of our Hosting Agreement for you to fill out and return.
- Hosting kickoff phone call. Upon receipt of the completed agreement, an Acquia rep will contact you to set up an initial call. This kickoff call is meant to go over the logistics of migrating your site and ensure that there aren't any technical requirements that Acquia Hosting cannot accommodate.
If for any reason, you no longer wish to take part in Acquia’s Free Hosting program, please respond to this email with “Opt Out”.
We are looking forward to Hosting your site.
Thanks,
Acquia Team

Awesome
I'm going to be out of town for this month's meeting, but I really like the sound of this. Put me down in the volunteer column.
Tentative
26th is opening night of HS volleyball regional tournament play. So my attendance is iffy but I'll see what I can do. Looking forward to the move. Sounds like a great idea.

no a move
I am not proposing a move but a two day regional meeting. Some thing like this http://drupalcampcolorado.org/

Right
That's how I read the first part of the message from Acquia, but the last half made it sound like the group site was moving too. Either or both... sounds great to me. Thanks Michael.

DrupalCorn meeting - 26Oct2009 - Open Agenda
I got my agenda, do you have yours?? See you all Monday night.
Do take time to sign-up, as this is helpful to the organizers.

Batch API
If we are short on agenda items I would like to pick the experts' (you know who you are) brains regarding Drupal's Batch API. I have about 10,000 nodes that I need to create from a collection of data files and am trying to get Batch to handle this. Limited success thus far.

love the idea
I'm hoping to make the meeting tonight, but I'm running on 3 hours sleep, we'll see if I make it.
The regional meeting is an excellent idea. Add me to the volunteer list.
I'd like to add to the agenda (if not this meeting, the next one) the idea of web conferencing our Ames meetings using WebEx, GoToMeeting, Yugma, or some other tool. I'm guessing that there are people across Iowa who would like to participate in the Iowa DUG but find the journey to Ames too large of a time expenditure. If enough people like the idea, I can help investigate means and associated costs of holding online meetings. What do you think?
Another Great Idea
I don't mind making the trip to Ames once each month as I usually have something else (bringing my daughter, a prospective ISU freshman, along to visit her friends this evening) to do there anyway. However, the option to WebEx (or whatever) in to the meeting would be awesome. I'm sure there are others who would attend if that were possible.

DrupalCamp
Is there any action on the DrupalCamp Iowa front? I was out of town for the last meeting and missed the discussion.
