AJAX tools

zroger's picture

I can expand on the talk I gave at DrupalCamp about the CTools AJAX library, which is the basis for the new Drupal 7 AJAX library.

I can also talk about Dialog Module which is largely based on the CTools stuff.

Anyone want to do an Ubercart preso?

stuartschultz's picture

Would anyone be willing to do an ubercart presentation that dug beyond the basics? E.g., What are the most common pitfalls people fall into when creating an Ubercart site from both the programming and themeing perspective? Any tricks of the Ubercart programming trade? Etc.

I second this! Been

I second this! Been struggling with Ubercart + Views. Anyone who can share from experience would be so great!

I will be available for

litwol's picture

I will be available for general Q&A. If there is enough interest i can host a BoF on various D7 topics ranging from rapid development to performance to security and more. Feel free to ask me about not being afraid to embrace new technologies (and what exactly do i mean here ;) )

Bartik

I'd love to talk about Bartik and Drupal 7, and give a demo of Bartik.

Looking forward to this!!

yay another meetup.. haven't been to one for awhile.

Anyone interested in Panels?

ezra-g's picture

I could potentially talk a bit about using Panels to smart/fancy landing pages. http://drupal.org/project/panels

This would be cool, I have

elijah lynn's picture

This would be cool, I have been trying to wrap my head around all that panels can do and am starting to realize how powerful it really is. More use cases are necessary. I will most likely be going to the Princeton Meetup that night but if I change my mind I would love to see your proposed presentation.

Would love to come but

elijah lynn's picture

Would love to come but Princeton Meetup is same night and Princeton is closer :)

Next time!

sorry

Sorry folks, I will not be able to make it to this meetup, because of a work-related event. Hopefully I can give my presentation at the next meetup.

Crisis Commons and ReliefOversight.org

benguhin's picture

I'd like to present on the Disaster Accountability Project's http://reliefoversight.org which was rapidly deployed for Haiti and is now seeking developers and themers to help add new features and maximize usability. It's also part of Crisis Commons, which has been holding "Crisis Camps" every Saturday in major cities around the world and is building a number of Drupal sites to support the relief efforts (http://crisiscommons.org)

p.s.
Definitely contact me if you're interested in helping out this saturday - benguhin@gmail

Nice work ...but.

Bill Choy's picture

It is remarkable what you can do with Drupal in a couple of days.

Nice Flash video you have on the parent http://www.disasteraccountability.org/ website... Too bad it hides the bottom of the drop-down menu links in the Primary Navigation (at least in Firefox). I had the same problem with another website, but cheated by position the video under my shortest drop-downs. Does anyone know the correct solution?

give the flash object a wmode

orbgasm's picture

give the flash object a wmode parameter of 'transparent' and then making sure that both the flash object container and the drop down container have a position: value, and then set their z-indexes accordingly.
btw, disasteraccountability.org is running on Joomla :P

This is true.

benguhin's picture

Reliefoversight.org is the Drupal site that we're working on right now, and then after we finish the next release we'll look into putting resources into getting disasteraccountability.org on Drupal. It's a great cause if anyone wants to take on more pro-bono work.

Review of Haiti Earthquake Information, a Drupal project

mcaudy's picture

I would like to present a 15-20 minute review of the Haiti Earthquake Information project, http://dev.haiti-earthquake-information.org, a Drupal project started on January 19. The project has gone through several phases, including initial app development, coordination with other projects, outreach to the US administration and aid agencies, etc. The original g.d.o Discussion of the project is here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/45958. Although this description is dated, it gives an overview of the project, and the need for Drupal devs for this ongoing project.

Multisites and shared tables

richbaldwin's picture

Anyone care to address multisites and shared tables.
Specifically the setup required to use a single login among a master site and a set of subsites.

hi rich. i have a multi site

patoshi's picture

hi rich. i have a multi site setup and would also like to see how shared tables would be done. from what i gather it doesnt seem to be a viable option for shared tables especially if something gets broken, which would affect other sites if im not correct. but still would like to see the most effective way this is accomplished.

Snowstorm

tomsherlock's picture

Will the snowstorm affect the meeting?

Snowstorm

I was wondering the same.

It will make commuting back to Northern NJ very tough it is even 1/2 of what they are talking about us getting.

Will be at the Northern NJ meetup next week :)

didnt they say their was

patoshi's picture

didnt they say their was going to be a snowstorm last weekend?

Actually...

mrynearson's picture

....they said we were hit or miss for the last one. This storm is coming dead on and won' t start in earnest until tomorrow afternoon. We'll see but I'm leaning toward not coming to the city as well. Perhaps NYC Drupalers could group up and hit the Northern NJ meeting next week.

That would be cool. It'll

DrupalNYC Meetup - Signup

LarryZ's picture

I am new. As far as I can tell I am signed up. Please confirm. Several days ago I made sure I gave my full name. I presume that is an isolated building security issue. I am listed in the Signup tab - User Name/Full Name. I see no signup tab and my signup information only has a cancel option.

I am assuming this is a general message to all. Sorry if I'm making a big deal out of nothing but if I made a mistake can you please just correct this for me this time.

Thank you.

Look for the button that

I just cancelled my own sign up for tomorrow due to the storm.

Snow Storm Info...?

socklet's picture

I'm new here, so I was wondering if there would be an official decision of the meetup being postponed due to snow. Or, should I just keep checking back to make sure someone else is going?

i am sure people that live

litwol's picture

i am sure people that live closer will still make it. worst come to worst we will cut meetup short and go to nearby bar for warmup liquids. writing your name in snow is optional.

Those of us who aren't within

ezra-g's picture

Those of us who aren't within walking (sludging) distance might not make it tonight as the snow is supposed to continue. Sadly, I'll probably not be able to make it as well. I'll comment here if I am able to go.

The signup is now closed.

litwol's picture

The signup is now closed. despite the snowstorm I'll be at the venue at 6pm or a little early.

I'm bowing out too

decibel.places's picture

looking forward to the next meetup!

Beyond my control

LarryZ's picture

Out of courtesy I am notifying you all it looks like I will not be able to make it.

As a newbie I was looking forward to finding out about real world Drupal and opportunities as opposed to my so far theoretical local installation and book reading and videos and drupal.org and stuff.

When I factor in the unreliability of my B31 bus to the train in normal circumstances, I will probably have to opt out. The service (if any) is deplorable when conditions are half as bad.

I regret I have to wait another month.

next time

lmaharas's picture

I too will not make it tonite due to the weather. I look forward to meeting you all next month.

best,

brooklyn's snowed in

ricardoom's picture

sorry having to miss the presentations. but i like warm dry feet...next time.

Ditto

mrynearson's picture

Catch everyone next time at the March meeting

how many is confirmed going?

patoshi's picture

how many is confirmed going? not sure if i should come if everyone is cancelling. i live near by in ctown

I'm already at the venue.

litwol's picture

I'm already at the venue. Trains were empty and coming from brooklyn on B/Q line and transferring to R to city hall was a breeze (surprisingly so). trains are moving fast and there is no obstruction, at least not yet. it looks more scary than it is with so much slush outside but given amount of warning we got on tv most of new yorkers seem to have stayed home (so not many cars are on the road either).
