Agenda for Sunday's Meeting (July 29th) at Phillipes

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

1)
Identify and assign development of hieracrchy and creation of content on ladrupal.org which reflects our groups' directions and interests. Crystal is the point person on this topic.

2)
Through the discussion raised by Joe & Heather D'augustine's talk, creating a channel as a filmmaker, look to create a distribution which is geared towards community building and revenue generation.

3)
Focus on the challenge of the aggregation and syndication of events under Drupal as a peg on which all the more abstract notions raised by the previous two agenda points can hang. The Upcoming.org module is a wonderful place to start. Identifying project leaders and main goals to bring the module to a functioning state is a good milestone for the end of this upcoming meeting.

All works in progress

Much of the agenda points have already been set into motion -

1) ladrupal.org - http://ladrupal.org/
* preliminary work has already begun
* some notes here from the last meet - http://groups.drupal.org/node/4702#comment-14156

2) creating custom sites (eventually install profiles/distros) for a specific purpose/target audience has been a 'hot topic' for quite some time - additional/related info:
* distribution profile group - http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-dojo
* installation profile for film/video (in the works) - http://groups.drupal.org/node/4964
* installation profile setup wizard (in the works) - http://groups.drupal.org/node/5002

3) aggregation and syndication of events
* there's been a lot of promising activity/interest (on a local level and elsewhere) regarding reviving and expanding on the upcoming.org module
* more info here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/5005
* info on module status - http://drupal.org/node/51028
* events in drupal group - http://groups.drupal.org/events-in-drupal
* rss and aggregation group - http://groups.drupal.org/rss-aggregation

With these projects on the table, I think we're ready to meet up and get working. Should take ccharlton up on his offer? http://groups.drupal.org/node/3885#comment-13210

No classes on Tuesday, that Sunday there is

I checked the schedule for the meeting facility and there's a class scheduled for Sunday, July 29th, but not Tuesday. I'll need to know if I have to get the space. Will only westside folk be meeting Tuesday?

Project oriented folks

gusaus's picture

Think the idea would be to have the weekday gatherings having more of a project oriented focus. So more hacking and hands-on learning. Open to anybody available/interested in the agendas laid out above?

Would the space be available this upcoming Tuesday?

I hear a workgroup forming...

And it sounds like a good idea; I think there's several projects in the works (remaking LAdrupal.org into a more collaborative site, etc.) that we can use to get newbies "in the trenches" as it were. Please, ccharlton, start a new thread with the when and where and I'll be there!

I'll ask about Tuesday

I'll verify if we can get July 24th (Tuesday). I doubt I can get today the 17th since it's short notice and we're cleaning/organizing the space again since our LAFlashapaloozastock party on Sat.

I will get something more definite soon because I'm totally down for this. :)
