There was some talk at the Seattle Dug about helping out with signup module so that it would be compatible with things going on here on g.d.o (so that it could be used for signups to dug events)
there is post over here about the todo list for the signup module http://groups.drupal.org/node/5044
maybe the upcoming la drupal camp, or berkeley camp or an associated user group (or the Seattle DUG) would be able to contribute some to the signup module?

Next SeaDug cow-orking session?
I'm willing to commit some time to this. Maybe focus one of our sessions on narrowing down the specific issues that we could complete?
An overview of how to submit patches would be helpful for everyone.
Totally
It would be great to work on Signup together. I might have time for some coworking late this week. If that does not work out, Shawn let's see what we can do at Drupalcon? We might find others there who would be interested in a doing an offshoot hack session or something like that.
I've submitted one patch so far, and I'd be happy to talk about my experience. Actually drupal.org has good patch documentation:
http://drupal.org/patch
And
I just can't help myself here (darn ego)...I just got my CVS account for committing code to drupal's contributions repository. I made my first commit last week! I added some functionality to the SignIt module.

Availablity
I can get together Tues or Wed of this week after 3pm, but have visitors coming into town on Thurs/Fri.
On the radar..
We talked about this at the Berkeley Dug last week, and agreed that it would be an excellent outcome to have an effective signup module as a result of Drupal Camp Bay Area. We'll definitely put it on the board for discussion!
I'm working on
From the TODO list:
They don't sound all that hard, but I haven't looked at the code yet either. ;) If I can do more, I'll add another comment here. Either way, let's regroup at Drupalcon and see how we're all doing
If you want to sign up to work on parts of the Signup module, please be sure to follow dww's suggestion:
Check the Issues for Signup to see if one exists for the task you choose from the TODO list. If not, create an issue for the Signup module and link it back to the TODO list.
I've already created a couple issues for the two tasks I'm taking on:
Limit Signups by role: http://drupal.org/node/172638
Datetime Display: http://drupal.org/node/172640

cck integration is the key missing piece
AFAIK, the only thing stopping signup from being deployed here is http://drupal.org/node/86462 which needs work. If anyone has sponsorship for that, it'd go faster. Or, if someone wants to dive into the code and crank on the patch, that'd work, too. Also, it'd be great to have more help testing stuff I'm working on in the issue queue, so if anyone can spare cycles on that, please do. ;)
Thanks,
-Derek

moshe's gone with views_bookmarks for now... i'm trying to get him to return to the signup.module camp:

Any help with that (both convincing him it's a good move, and help with the signup issues that come as fallout) would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm in agreement
I'm in agreement that Signup is a better way to go. Thanks for linking to the other discussion -- I would never have found it otherwise.
Thanks bumping this up
I'll take a wander through the issue queue during our Seattle coworking this week.
You ever get your trip to the NW settled?
