I posted a wiki on Drupal Dojos, Hack Nights, and Cafés in your community after spending some time with Lynn Bender who started a Drupal Dojo in the Austin community. The general idea is to have a weekly opportunity to get together with other folks in the local Drupal community to work on projects and share solutions to problems.
The Dojo is already very successful in Austin and it looks like New York and Seattle are warming up to the idea. As I'll be residing in the Boston area for another month or two, I'd like to help start up a Dojo if there's enough interest.
Do you think we're ready for a Boston Drupal Dojo? If so, the next step would be to choose a regular day (I'm leaning towards Wednesday or Thursday) and secure a venue.
What do you think?

I love the idea of a Drupal Dojo in Boston -
Wednesday or Thursday nights would be good for me. I'd be happy to help coordinate meeting places etc.
I have just set up http://drupalConnection.com to help Drupal tutors meet Drupal students and setup meeting times.
Some meeting places that may work:
JP Licks
659 Centre St
Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
(617) 524-6740
Peet's Coffee
285 Harvard St
Brookline, MA 02446
(617) 734-4725
Allston Cafe

Why not very it between
Why not very it between wednesday and thursday? Harder to remember, but it'll allow those that can't make it one day always to make it the other day, perhaps.
Sounds good
Count this J.P.-based developer in. In terms of places around here I'd suggest Bella Luna over JP licks. Where are most folks coming from?

I'm ready.
(Also JP-based. +1 for Bella Luna or JP Licks.)
Agaric is also in.
And willing to try any of these places, coming in from the western suburbs.
We could likely also get regular space, wifi, ability to bring food in at http://encuentro5.org a block from South Station in Chinatown.

encuentro 5 looks interesting
So it looks like we have some good options. Should we try to set a date? Based on discussions in the IRC, it seems like Thursdays may work best? Maybe we could start Thursday, May 6 at venue TBD?
The other thing we're discussing in the related thread is approaches to capturing and documenting these types of sessions. Guess we can just try out various approaches as we go.

Excited!
Am very excited about the idea of the Dojo.Thursdays sound good. I also find the e5 building very appropriate and accessible too.
Hmm...
Either day is okay with me. Not having a car, it needs to be near the T though. Why not the MIT room where we have the monthly meeting? A screen projector might be handy too.

I talked to Gusaus & Fox on IRC...
I haven't been to many (any?) Drupal meetups or events here in Boston due to a) my busy schedule and b) normally being unable to come to anything that meets on Wednesdays. The Thursday, May 6th date sounds great to me. I'll look forward to meeting so many people that I practically know by now as a result of being on IRC so often. :)
Do we want to get the word out to people around the Boston area too, such as the folks at Acquia?

Looking forward to the meeting
I am new to the area and would love to attend. Any location close to a T works for me.
Chinatown is good if we're
Chinatown is good if we're looking for a central location that is T-easy and isn't too far for anyone. But I'd say E5 is not really an appropriate venue. In addition to Drupal not really having anything to do with their mission, they would (rightly) want some money in return for opening up the space for us and we would surely clash with other events and meetings often.
I'd also argue against recreating the meetups in a classroom - I think the idea is that this is a more relaxed space where we can chat, eat, drink, break off into smaller groups if necessary, etc? But, I guess it depends a lot on how many people we're talking about.

I'm in, I always have a conflict with events in Boston, I can't do first Tuesdays of the month. So either Wed or Thu is good for me.

I was excited with the idea but now I am worried since many are for Thursday which I can't make. Wednesday works much better for me.
If Chinatown, do we not get a parking problems?
Could probably rotate days and venues...
There's probably not going to be one day/venue that will work for everyone... so maybe not a bad idea to rotate days and venues. Seems like Thursday, May 6 would be good for many in this thread. Venue probably needs to be accessible by car and T. Does this count out Chinatown? Any other ideas on a place or should we just settle on what's already been suggested?

Close to the T is good for me
Even though I come from the 'burbs, I can always ride the T.

Where/when should we begin?
As this should be pretty informal, I think it's ok just to pick a day/venue that works for a few and then just plan from there. Think we kicked the idea of starting Thursday, May 6... which is tomorrow! Short notice, but I'd be interested in meeting if a few others could. Otherwise, possibly we could set a date/venue for next week?

Days / Venues
I don't know Cambridge or anywhere "up there" that well, so I'm not sure if I would be the best to make a good "venue suggestion" ... but I have some time tomorrow evening, so I'm still interested in coming up tomorrow if something is organized.
I've mentioned in IRC (and maybe in this discussion earlier) that Thursdays would be better for me than Wednesdays, and I agree that we probably wouldn't want to do Tuesdays because that's the MIT Drupal Meetup.
Since tomorrow is less than 24 hours away, my suggestion would be to just meet at a bar or the back room of a restaurant or something. Church (downtown) would be fun, but I'm not sure how close that is to the T. There are numerous places in and near Chinatown, between the Boylston stop and South Station.

I'm down if someone can suggest a good bar, restaurant, coffee-shop w/ WIFI in the Boston/Cambridge area?

I was not able to come to the last Boston Drupal meetup - was there any movement on this?
Stay near the T
Great idea. Please keep it T-accessible for us car-less folks. Anything associated with caffeine is always fun as well.
Discussing potential venue and format in #drupal-dojo IRC
It looks like there's progress on securing a really nice venue for weekly Drupal Dojos or working groups. We're planning on discussing potential venue and format as part of the weekly Learning Drupal Chat later today. - http://groups.drupal.org/node/95224
We'll post an update here for those who can't participate in the discussion.

I am interested also
Sounds like a great idea to me
