LA Drupal Planet?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I was talking to Amazon briefly about the idea of submitting a Drupal specific RSS feed from LA Drupal.org to the Drupal Planet. Essentially we'd have an aggregate of all LA member blogs going out to about 16,000+ subscribers.

Any thoughts/opinions on that idea?

No thoughts, let's do it

Let's do the default RSS feed, I guess.

Possibly a tag such as 'Planet Drupal'...

Possibly a tag such as 'Planet Drupal' would increase the signal to noise. Essentially we'd leave it up to the authors to tag anything they feel should be read by the Drupal masses. Here's the proof of concept...
http://ladrupal.org/tags/planet_drupal
http://ladrupal.org/taxonomy/term/50/0/feed

The other thing we might want to explore is having 'LA Drupal' include an aggregate of any individual member blogs. In essence, we could leave it up to the authors to determine where their 'LA Drupal' content originates.

If that sounds agreeable, we can submit the 'Planet Drupal' feed to...uhh... the planet... and leave the latter for future exploration in aggregation.

I dig it

I like both of these ideas. We certainly don't want every posting on the site to go out to Planet Drupal, and the taxonomy tag filter is simple and effective. I also like the idea of being able to publish content from our own blogs.

I'm going to be writing some admin tips for my clients - simple stuff like; how to use Flickr.com, how to use Google Reader to research articles for syndication on your site, how to use TinyMCE (the examples will be specific to the way that I set things up for my clients), using Upcoming.Yahoo.com to promote events, etc. Do you want to incorporate those kinds of postings as well or should we restrict postings to content that are directly relavent to the LA Drupal Group?

I think it'd be great, we

I think it'd be great, we had discussed doing something like that at SCALE and all were in favor.

This is the issue I just submitted - http://drupal.org/node/221394

Assuming we'll be in the Planet rather quickly, we should start blogging right away. Anything you think is worthy, give it a tag 'Planet Drupal'.

These threads should give us some ideas on what to write about:
