In this short demonstration, Doug Vann will show off how to use the Progressively Decoupled Blocks module to place react code on a Drupal page as a block in any region of your choice. Then he will show how he's using this to build Southern California Edison's new website which launches later this month.

This month, Dan Denysenko presented "Introduction to Drupal 8 theming." The presentation focused on theming anatomy and tools of the trade for themers.
Dan started his presentation deconstructing the Bartik theme to determine the basic building blocks of the theme in Drupal 8. He went on to show us how to build a theme, putting on his themer new to Drupal hat, using common tools use by themers outside the Drupal community and applying them to Drupal 8 theming. Here are some of the tools discussed during the presentation:
