I'm thinking about driving to Phoenix for Drupal Camp coming up next month. I was wondering if any Las Vegas Drupalers were planning on doing the same and would like to carpool.

How is the drive from Vegas to Phoenix? Is it worth the $230 to fly instead? Any comments appreciated.

Thanks,
-Casey

I was actually thinking about

I was actually thinking about it too. It's about a 3-hour drive, but it's next weekend (11/06). I really want to go, but I'm not sure if I can (I have work to do).

It would definitely be cheaper to drive, especially if you can get a carpool (rent a car to drive there), possibly get a motel room for a night then come back the next day.

I've been kicking around the

I've been kicking around the idea of going for about the last month or two.

Since it's about a 6 hour drive (not 3), I would probably want to go up on Friday and come back on Sunday, so that I was rested for the conference and when I was behind the wheel.

However, that adds to the cost and money's really tight for us right now. The conference cost is minimal and driving would possibly decrease the cost a bit, but I would have to add money for two night's rest.

Hey Jason, I was thinking

Hey Jason, I was thinking about leaving around 9-10am on Friday stay 2 nights and head back Sunday as well. I wouldn't mind sharing a hotel room to cut down on cost.

Let me know if you are interested.

Sorry to be slow in responding

but I'm not going to be able to make it to Phoenix. I don't have the funding available to be able to cover the bills and the trip, so the trip gets axed. (I'd like to ax the bills, but there are undesirable repercussions when doing that.) I'm hoping to be in a better situation for the San Diego camp in January.

Car Pool

I have made the drive myself a couple times, I would say it's more like 4.5 hours.

Car pool and bring lots of water.

How's the time since the

How's the time since the Hoover Dam bypass got finished. Has anybody done it yet?

Hotel booked, all systems go. I will be doing the drive on Friday, I will use the new bridge and let you know what kind of time I made.

If there are any last minute takers that want to car pool, give me a call at: 702-723-8324

Travel Time

Well, we ate lunch together at the Camp, but I forgot to ask you about travel time from Vegas. What was the time difference?

Was not too bad. I left from

Was not too bad. I left from the east side of the the Vegas valley at 2pm and got to the Friday night get together at almost exactly 7pm. I'm in Summerlin, so add another half hour for that. But over all it was a nice drive. The new bridge by the hoover dam cuts off a significant amount of time as well.

Enjoyed our conversation at lunch.

Cheers,
