Google's Code-in is an event designed to engage new members to the open source community by creating bite-sized tasks that are easy to digest. Since Portland is basically the Open Source capital of the world I'm slightly ashamed that we haven't been rocking the GCI issue queue but I'm guessing that's because most people don't know about it! Now is our chance to show the world how Portland does Open Source.
Encouraging new participants is easy but we could use more task proposals and mentors. Webchick's post about GCI is here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/101019. Deadline for proposals is on Friday!
We don't have to have a full issue queue, but we need to make sure that we have a lot of mentors! If you want to help please either post a suggestion for a task or just post a comment on some task that you want to help out with. We need to convince Webchick that she's not going to have to do all this organization work herself (seems she's busy with D7, who knew right?).

Salem Group?
Good morning, everyone! Is anyone familiar with a Drupal group meeting in the Salem area? I've found groups for Portland and Eugene, but we're right smack in the middle of the two.
Thanks,
Leslie
