finally we are nearly there, like the hat you see unfinished
Hi Sherre,
Have sent various emails as state rep for nsw regarding sponsorship and various other things, re contacting corporations and enterprise running drupal rather then just drupal development shops.
Will be so great to finally see all states represented and working together considering issues and complaints raised by people earlier in the year regarding the australia camp.
I must say it is quite late ie novembers over and everyone will be on holidays in two or so weeks, this is something that must be kept in mind for next year as we really are not giving people much time to get proposals in, ask for time off etc. Hoping the lateness will not effect numbers and Dries being there will help boast numbers (ie people will go to deeper lengths) :D
We are all in the drupal do-ocracy for a reason because we belive in working together and open source structure which is the non traditional authoritarian style that ruins so many communities.
So great work drupal comminity for this and people like rcross, sime, gollyg and so many others who have worked so hard to get us as a community to tgis point I still remember running around sorting sponsorship for our first drupal camp ever in australia lol I guess we can all pat ourselves on the back :D
Great work everyone who has
Great work everyone who has been involved.
Thanks Sheree and Jeff for making this event happen, for making the hard decisions, and for taking the knocks when you get them wrong ( as if ) ;)
Good to see some session proposals rolling in, keep them coming.
Community Effort
The most important thing to identify is that as the earlier discussion this year we are a community and their is not one or two people who have done this. It has been a community effort and with more involvement from the community we can make this event better.
Hi Amaree, I know there has
Hi Amaree,
I know there has been many people involved and was not suggesting that only two people have done this. It was 3, Jeff, Sheree and Tony :) for those that don't know me that was meant as humor, more may follow.
Many people have been involved in organising this event, most of them remain unnamed and don't expect any recognition. They are the people who make up the backbone of the event. Unfortunately a backbone on it's own hasn't a leg to stand on, and is pretty useless even if it could stand without a brain, Sheree.
There is still much to do and many ways to contribute to making this a great event. We need to get the message out as much as possible to those people quietly hacking away at drupal, for there own personal site, or for their business, that until now haven't made an effort to get involved in the community. thanks to all those who have already been making an effort to do this. Amaree I know you are one of those, so thanks, keep up the good work.
Appriciated more then you know
Thanks for your comments it is appreciated. I am really keen to try to get the CAMP open to the community as I am sure all can remember me taking on the concerns that where raised earlier this year about state specific camps versus Australia wide ones and the need to involve community.
The sad thing is that it seems that the approach to organizing the camp has turned from a community one to a top down approach which has alienated some of the community and meant that we do not have a strong or not even one enterprise or corporation sponsoring or giving case studies.
The concerns of it not being inclusive and alienating have been raised to me on more then one occasion :(
What to Submit?
Hi all,
I just posted a wee little blog post to our site

At the end... I ask readers what they might be interested in having me talk about at DrupalDownunder ?
Would love some feedback and suggestions :)
