Hey everyone,
Just a friendly reminder that this WEDNESDAY (December 8) is the date of our monthly Portland Drupal User Group Meeting.
We've got two interesting presentations on the agenda:
1. "Connecting Drupal with Mobile Roadie: A Case Study in Mobile Drupal" presented by Tarraccas Obremski
Ever wanted to make your Drupal site work in conjunction with a native iPhone or Android app? Tarraccas Obremski of Burning Moth Creations will be making the trek from Washington state to discuss his work on integrating Drupal with Mobile Roadie (http://www.mobileroadie.com), a point-and-click solution for creating native iPhone and Android apps.
In particular, Tarraccas will discuss his recent work for an internationally famous music DJ: Fans of the DJ can make comments and upload pictures from tour events on a free iPhone app and this user-generated content is automatically synced to the DJ's companion Drupal site. It's interesting work for anyone considering bringing Drupal into the mobile world.
2. "Drupal distributions: Best practices for creating your own product" presented by Sean Larkin
Ever thought about creating your own Drupal distribution? Sean Larkin will discuss his experiences in creating Watershed Now (http://drupal.org/project/watershednow)--a Drupal distribution developed to support the common content management, social media, online advocacy, fundraising, and geo-mapping needs of river conservation organizations. He'll be discussing the technical aspects of creating, maintaining, and deploying the distribution--as well Watershed Now's unique and successful training and sales model. Sean will also discuss best practices for anyone looking to productize and monetize their Drupal work in scalable way.
Finally, here are the meeting details:
Date: Wednesday, December 8
Time: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. (after the meeting, we head to Lucky Lab for drinks and conversation!)

See you there,
Ben
