DrupalCampPDX 2008 Volunteers Needed

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The big day is almost here and last I checked, after cleaning up our database, there is just one spot left. To think I thought a cap might not needed and that at most we'd get 50 or 60. Amazing!

Anyway, WE NEED HELP. As you know this is all run by volunteers and we will need more volunteers on the day, to do the following:

  1. Set-up on Friday night
  2. Watching the front door (it is a locked door) in 1-hour shifts all day
  3. Working the registration desk (check if registered, then give nametag) in 1-hour shifts all day
  4. Cleanup and tear-down Saturday evening.

All help greatly appreciated and very much needed. Please reply here to volunteer for anything, no matter if it's just and hour or two. It is all going to be a huge help. Be sure to tell me if your user name here matches your user name for DrupalCampPDX 2008. Also, please mention the areas you can help with (specify number/s) and for how many hours. Or alternatively, I can give you access to our volunteer Google doc (you may need a Google email) and you can fill in what you want to help with.

Volunteer Update

KerryF's picture

We need 1-2 people doing registration all day and they will be the same people to watch the front door. The front door will remained open until 10am, after that it needs to be locked all day for security reasons. So the people watching the front door and doing registration are really the same job.

Thanks

Kerry

wonder95's picture

I'm registered, but I won't be able to be there until after 10:00. Will I still be able to get in?

Yes, people will be watching

Yes, people will be watching the door and a phone number will be posted.

Yes. To be clear, the door

Yes. To be clear, the door has to remain locked, but we will have a volunteer there to let folks in at all times. So you will be able to get in any time.

Incentives for volunteers

grantkruger's picture

Hi all,

As an incentive to getting some of you to volunteer to help, we can now offer the following:

  • Every volunteer gets a fun and unique DrupalCampPDX 2008 helper.module button.
  • Volunteers doing 2-3 hours get a $5 Starbucks gift card, courtesy of neutralSpace (max 10).
  • Volunteers doing more than 3 hours get a signed copy of Matt's Pro Drupal Development book, courtesy of Matt and Lullabot. Matt will even sign body parts! (max 6 to 8, max books that is, not body parts).
  • Volunteers will get an entry per hour worked into a raffle and the winner will get a free t-shirt.

So please help us and be a part of it all. It's also a great way to meet fellow Drupalers and volunteers, and make new friends and contacts.

Grant

Shift

Don Engstrom's picture

I can do a shift (whatever is needed) from 4-5 and can snap photos throughout the day although my camera is nothing special.

Don

Thanks Don, We've added you

Thanks Don,

We've added you to the list. We have also set up a flickr account, so that anyone can upload pictures, which we are pulling into the Camp site via a feed.

Thanks also to those folks who could no longer make it and unregistered. All but one of their unregisters were taken up by those on the waiting list and we now have a single spot open again.

Pictures - Video

Could probably scrounge up one of those mp4-recording video cameras, for some quick posting of session content, if that is desired...

I'd say yes to video

I'd say yes. Any method of recording content will be appreciated by those present who want to review it later, and those not present would enjoy this.
