We had a good 1st Drupal meetup at Covenant last week - thanks to those of you who came! We had 2 (other) developers from the community join us besides me, as well as some students and one of the ICS professors at Covenant. There were also several who had expressed interest, but couldn't make it.
Unfortunately, I scheduled the first meetup at the same exact time as another, similar meetup that is more established. Incidentally, some of those folks were interested in coming to our meetups! That's the PHP / Linux User's Group at http://www.meetup.com/chattanoogaphp. In an effort not to do that again (and in an effort to be able to go to some of their events), I'm going to keep an eye on their website / schedule.
The folks at Covenant are interested in participating in more meetups, and I know that we've got some interest. It sounds like later in the month is better for the Covenant folks, and I imagine that it might be better for some of us too.
The PHP Meetup is on Tuesday, January 25th, so I suggest we have our meeting before that date. Here are my top 2 suggestions:
1) Thursday, January 20th
2) Tuesday, January 18th
I also realize that Covenant College is not an ideal location for everyone in Chattanooga - so if folks are interested in coming, please let me know where you'd prefer to meet - or if Covenant is as good a location for you as any.

Tuesday works best for me. I could ask if we could use one of the conference rooms on the campus on Tuesday nights. They already have classes going on so the building will be open.

When you say "campus" could you let us know where this is? I'm not sure where in Chattanooga you work / consult. Or are you speaking of Covenant?

CKilgoreofDerpistan - Welcome! I see that you just created a user account on Drupal less than 2 days ago. You say that evenings aren't good for you. If we did it somewhere else closer to your house, would evenings work? I think for the majority of us, we are unable to have a meetup during the day because of our work schedules.
I'll talk with the folks at Covenant, and I'll also talk with the folks in the PHP Meetup group.... and hopefully we can get something scheduled.
By the way, aside from this "meetup", it seems that a lot of people are having Drupal 7 Release Parties on Friday, January 7th. Anyone up for hanging out that night? Going to a bar, etc...? I'm honestly not sure if I'll be available, but I'm just throwing that idea out there....

I think you misread me. I live in Trenton, about 20 minutes from Covenant. Any time, daytime or evening (up until 10-11pm) is a good time for me. I just said that because unlike you night owls I hit the hay at roughly 11 every weeknight. Hopefully that clears the air.
As I mentioned in an email earlier to you (yes, i'm that guy), the PHP Group is very accommodating and we rarely deviate from the 4th tuesday meetings. If there's any changes, I'll let you know ahead of time.

How 'bout we do Tuesday, January 18th at 6:00 or 7:00, location TBD. I'll contact my connection at Covenant and make sure it's a good time for he and his students. We don't have to do this at Covenant, either - if one of you guys know of a good place off the mountain, or if you'd be willing to host it, let me know.
If I don't here any objections in the new few hours, I'll go ahead and create the event.
