Drupalers all over the world are celebrating the release of Drupal 7 on January 7. The list is growing every day over at http://www.drupal7releaseparty.org/
We'd like to arrange a party in Orlando. While planning for DrupalCamp Florida, I volunteered to head up the effort but later realized I'll be in New York on that night. I'll be glad to organize everything ahead of time but need people to be in charge that night. Additionally, this isn't a one-man job anyway so anyone who wants to jump in is welcome to pick a topic. We can use this thread to plan.
Topics
- Venue
-- UrbanRethink
-- Bar-like location with a back room?
- Refreshments
- Program
-- Intro of new features in Drupal 7
-- Walkthrough of a current Drupal 7 site (Examiner.com?)
-- Modules not ready for Drupal 7
- Entertainment?
Any thoughts or volunteers to pick up items?

John, I think it all depends
John, I think it all depends on how late we want to stay. The Bad Film Appreciation Society kicks off at 8PM. If all we need is a room for a demo, a projector, and a few beers, I don't see why we can't go from 6-8PM.

Don, can you edit this event
Don, can you edit this event so it has the correct address, start time, etc? I asked Michael, who is organizing the next event. He told me we are more than welcome.

I can bring the projector & screen. We have chairs. I don't know if there will be any internet connectivity, except the wifi from next door.
I can also bring some beers and wine, available by donation to the Urban Think! Foundation. We will also "pass the hat" on behalf of the foundation.
We can ask a few people to throw in snacks.
The last thing is figuring out the content of the event itself. I have built a site in D7 - or at least begun to. Hopefully I will be able to show off a live example (the website for Urban ReThink itself).
Someone should find it easy to go through a list of new stuff about Drupal 7 - I could also bring a copy of the Beginning Drupal 7 book by Jacob Redding. If anyone else has D7 books, that would be fun.
