Drupal 7 is intended for release on January 5th and Drupalers around the world plan to have Drupal 7 release parties to celebrate. I think we should join them. Who's in?

I'll even contribute a couple of free Pro Drupal 7 Development books to the party attendees -- autographed even :-)

I've been seeing Jan 5 and Jan 7 both as dates ... g.d.o. front page says it's the 7th, which is a Friday.

Per Dries, it seems D7 has a release date of the 5th and a worldwide party on the 7th.
Are the OpenSourcery offices an option for the party? Or our usual LL bar?

Party is Posted
I put in a call to rent the Northwest Lucky Lab party room. They've been a little slow to confirm in the past, but I'll post when I hear for sure. I feel comfortable getting the Lucky Lab out there as a location: http://www.drupal7releaseparty.org/united-states/release-party-portland-.... We can adjust if needed.

Indeed, we already have an offer of free beer and free books, which is a pretty great start already. Plus everyone is already familiar with the location.

If it comes out the 5th... why not have a party on the 4th at midnight? Let's claim firsts and show all those other cities why Portland is awesome!
Regardless of the date, purpose, or place... You had me at beer. I'm there!

I'll get in touch just as soon as I hear back about whether their party room is available. It will shape what we choose to do.
Party Room Confirmed
I've confirmed reservation of the Lucky Lab's Party Room from 6pm to midnight for Friday, January 7. I'm excited that we get a more quiet environment to look at D7, and they do have a screen if we choose to do any projection. I'm still thinking about that and will plan for a projector even if we choose not to use it.
Capacity is 85, seating for 60.
Party Room Power
Do they have many outlets in the party room? I read elsewhere that the Lucky Lab was a little short on them, but I don't know about the party room. Maybe an extension cord or two and some power strips are in order? (I know my laptop only lasts 45 minutes or so....)
