In the land of the internet, It feels Like Pantheon is Dead/Dying, No updated Documentation, tutorials, and little , disappearing community support?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Greetings ! I am trying to install Pantheon for like 30+ hours straight. I am also a linux newie... but have no problem following like the VPS bible and such.

It seems like nearly a year ago their was a lot more activity around drupal reguarding Pantheon. It seems that it is all but dying. There are little support tickets to browse looking for solution, and what there is is randomly distributed.

It would be nice if there was a more centralized point of information, like the standard support forums for projects like drupal modules.

And whats up with the 1.2 version?

I am about to give up and try ngix solution, and am worried that this project will be dead by thte time I get it working.

I am scared there will be no activity/support in the future.

And simple things, like upgradeing modules, such as the Apache solr module to the newest dev vrsion,

I did that and it killed pantheon.

Once again I am trying to install mercury 1.1 (BETA) when 1.2 is getting ready to be released. I heard there is a 1.1 non beta, but cant find any instructions.

When I watched the Drupalcon vid, I thought that pantheon was the future of drupal and enjoyed great official drupal support.

Now I feel as though I am coming late to the party.

Or like zombies took over the earth and Im the only one left alive around here...

Have a look at
https://github.com/pantheon-systems/mercury

The version 1.2 has a lot of changes and new features like multisite config and hudson integration.
A lot of testing is needed and it takes some time.

So, I have only found the

So, I have only found the instructions in the readme :

apt-get install git-core
git clone git://github.com/pantheon-systems/mercury.git -b master /opt/pantheon
cd /opt/pantheon
python setup.py

And this never is successful on my linode node when trying to set it up.

Is there any instructions similiar to the 1.1 beta setup instructions that would get 1.2 to work?

wohooooooooo! Have got a

wohooooooooo!

Have got a clean working pantheon 1.1 base setup and backed up. That was like pulling out hair. Last time it took only an hour or two. When it is smooth, it is smooth.

It seems to be going pretty

It seems to be going pretty well i would say. They are always on IRC, good bunch of guys there. Supporting Drupalcon Chicago, don't think this project is going anywhere. Understanding what it is like to run a company and have an OS project, it's not easy being pulled in all directions. I am sure if you need something to happen fast and good, you can always contract someone. They are not in the group here that much, but on IRC a lot.

Hey, Thanks for the reply. I

Hey, Thanks for the reply. I dont mean to come off as cold, unnappreciative and crude. I can understand the sacrifices they make to do what they do. Sorry if I wasnt so tactful, I am more trying to find out as a way of knowing rather or not I am going down the right road. And Im on like 9 hours of sleep in 3 days... I dont think this wiki group layour is as efficient to share experiances and provide collaborative support. I much prefer the drupal project support forums. Why cant we move this group into that format? It seems much more of an efficient project support system than the wiki/river of news type layout going on here. A;; pf these minds put together are very strong.. but take for exaple all the step by step threads about the same issue... Everyone knows here what good the module/project support forums are.... Lets get one going here,

Apologies

Sorry for the confusion here. The project is a really active state of development right now, and we're currently waiting until things stabilize and we know we have a solid upgrade strategy before making another release.

Folks who are familiar with all the components are welcome to use the current trunk from github. It should be fairly solid and help you get up and running quicky.

However, for those who want something less likely to change, you'll still have to wait a month at least before we cut a new release. There are some critical architectural/security issues we still need to solve before we can be sure that the open-source stack will be long-run supportable.

Finally, for people looking for guaranteed upgrades, etc, we are getting very close to launching the "Platform as a Service" version of Pantheon, where we take responsibility for the underlying system and you enjoy the benefits. This is the only version that will have the control panel and other elements we've been demoing at Drupalcon and Drupal Camps in the past six months.
