The next Drupal Meetup for Chattanooga will be held on Tuesday, January 18th, at Covenant College from 6:30 - 8:00(ish). The topic is to be determined (but we will aim to have one, and I'll post it here as the date draws closer). This will be a perfect way to network with other Drupalers in the Chattanooga area.
The last (and first) meetup we did back in December was a good first meeting / trial run. This time, we will aim to be a little more structured and have a topic and/or be a little better organized. At the same time, I do not want to be the one to call all the shots on these meetings - I want this to be a community initiated group, and I would love to have ideas and participation from others in the planning process. If you have ideas, please comment below or email me.
However, no meetup can (or should, in my opinion) be completely planned out, and are great ways (as I've already said) to network, meet other people with similar interests, etc...

Covenant College is located at the top of Lookout Mountain, GA. Technically in GA, Covenant is just a 15 minute drive from Downtown Chattanooga. The address is:

Like last time, the meeting will be hosted in Mills 160. From Chattanooga, turn left on Scenic Highway, and turn into the main entrance. There's a parking lot to the left, up the hill. Walk up to campus, pass Carter Hall, and Mills will be on the left, across the lawn from the Chapel. Or, you can park in the Sanderson lot (pass the main entrance, and take the next right), and walk up to Mills.
As we continue to build interest in the Chattanooga area, I would also like to ask those who are interested in coming to these meetups on a regular basis to post ideas for topics, venues (is your business interested in hosting us 1 month?), speakers, etc...

I guess coming up with a list
I guess coming up with a list of member requested subjects would be useful.
Then we can arrange an itinerary for the next few meetups.
Things I can suggest are :-
I'm pretty experienced with theming, cck, views, and module developement, and would be happy to present any of those talks.
From the makeup of the group at the last meeting, i get a feeling that a "How to install Drupal on your machine" would go down well too. (i.e. MAMP/XXAMP/WAMP, MySql set up and Drupal download)
I would personally love to talk to anyone who has used the Features module and the Context Module.
I have just registered www.chattanoogadrupal.com and will set up a (Drupal) site soon so we can share our slides/talks with everyone easily.

As for topics, Lee, that's not a bad idea - coming up with a list of topics and planning out our future meetings. I think we'll be getting more and more drupalers involved as word spreads about our new group... Terenine might be hosting some meetups for us in the future, for example.
For this upcoming meeting next week, what if we did something like an intro to Drupal / what can I do with Drupal? I'll email the folks at Covenant and see if they have any topics they'd want to talk about / cover.

Lee, I'm going to email you separately, but I also wanted to post the bulk of what I wanted to say here publicly as well.
I got an email from Dr. Hunt, our contact / professor at Covenant, and he said this:
a) We are trying to organize a bunch of photos of artwork, hundreds, so a discussion of galleries might be good. We have one but could do better.
b) We want to make it possible to buy the art at some point so a shopping cart commerce discussion might work.
c) This would probably not work for anyone else but for the students just starting with a template and walking through turning it into a presentable site would be good, perhaps with drupal gardens (no install issues)
I could very potentially do a walk through of using Drupal Gardens - if I did so, I might even contact my previous co-workers up at Acquia and see if they have anything I could use to help with the presentation.
The Topic for This Meeting...
For Tuesday, Lee, would you be willing to talk about the topic of What can I do with Drupal (without writing any code)? Maybe make it about a 15 minute presentation? At that point, I'll do a (very basic) 10-15 min presentation on intro to Views & CCK in Drupal 6. We could open the floor for questions for another 10 or 15 minutes or so, and that'll be that!
For people off the mountain, I'm in need of a way to get up there. My (parked) vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run last Monday, and I haven't even gotten it towed yet - still waiting to find out if its totaled or not. I think I'll be able to borrow a car, but I may also be looking for a ride. I live off 4th Ave. If I'm still in need of a ride by Tuesday afternoon, would anyone be willing to give me a ride? I could take the bus to meet you somewhere...
