Hi All;
I have reserved a spot for us at NextSpace for the rest of the year. I hope I didn't jinx us!
We will have to use the downstairs room and Kristen's projector again in March, but the rest of the year we have the Pacific Room and a projector.
There is a screen that hangs on the wall for downstairs; I'd forgotten about it. So Julia won't have to drag the screen with her again.
Thanks to Mike, Kristen, and Julia, for making it happen in my absence. I do wish I'd been able to attend.

Newebie here - when are the group meetings held?
I guess the title says it all.

First Tuesday of each month
We meet at NextSpace, 101 Cooper Street in downtown Santa Cruz.
Welcome!
Ok, what time?
It sounds like the presentations are pretty interesting, so I'm definitely thinking of coming to the March meeting.
(Maybe the meeting place and time ought to be a sticky...?)

Sticky
Yes, it would be good to have some way for new people to see that the meetings are regular and when/where they are... Gary - can you make a generic message and mark as sticky? Or I can.
I'll be presenting Features & Panels at the March meeting.
Cheers,
Kristen

SC DUG Web Site Creative Project
What about doing a creative project together as a tool to learn and share more about Drupal? We could build a Santa Cruz DUG website (as long as it's not against the Drupal organizational rules) starting from scratch - doing a little every month during our meeting.
Starting with a dev copy or test copy - showing how to set it up, etc. Add functionality - like a calendar to post events, etc. It would be an active way for us new people to see how the more seasoned developers do things (even though you might have to step out of Drush and do it the "hard way" for us novices).
It wouldn't be a "I'll go off and do this part, you go do that one." kind of thing, but an interactive collaboration.
Just a thought . . .
Tom
Collaboration
I think it's a great idea but I know I'm stretched beyond my limits with paid work and with life right now. I tried doing a Drupal 7 site with some other members so we could all get into D7 but we were all too busy to keep it going... I'm hoping to resume that one in the summer.
But, I'm happy to give advice if anyone else wants to work on the site. If you come with questions each month, I can answer them for you ;)

Could we use existing time?
I thing many of us feel the same way and I'm not suggesting an additional time drain. I thought we could work on it during the monthly meeting time a bit each month - perhaps having a short presentation during the first part of the meeting and then working on the SC DUG site in the last half. It would be a hands on effort with D7, learning along the way. Questions would come up . . . new approaches could be tried . . . veteran wisdom could be shared. A group effort with no single person carrying the load.
Works for me
I'd be up for that.

No sticky for me
I just tried creating a discussion and don't have the sticky option available to me though maybe Gary does since he's a group organizer.
