Hi all,
I'm signed up for talking about Features and Panels this Tuesday. Unfortunately I won't have time to "prepare" so it will be by the seat of my pants. If you prefer a more prepared presentation, I could present these at the April meeting instead, but then someone would need to step in for this Tuesday's meeting and present something. Anyone interested? Thoughts?

Panel Discussion
I'm interested. Looking forward to it, even if it is more free flowing . . .

Just an fyi to those who came last night...
I showed you in panels that I had set up several variants where each variant was just one particular node view page (e.g. the FAQ page or the Speakers page). That is one way to handle it. Instead, I could have done the following:
So, you don't have to have a ton of variants, you can have just one variant with lots of visibility rules set. It's possible that has better performance. I don't know. I had split mine out to be per page or per similar pages for clarity but I will probably research that a bit to decide if I should collapse down some of the variants and use the pane visibility rules instead.
Cheers!

Thanks Kristen! The way you had your site set up and the suggestions you make here I think are superior to the method I used when I used Panels in sites two years ago. Now after having given it some time off, I am inspired to use it again. Fun! :)

And, thanks again!
Kristen, your talk on how to use Panel variants has just helped me out, so I wanted to thank you again for presenting.
My club (the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners, www.vintagebmw.org) is going to be putting their quarterly magazine online, but we only want to make it available to members. We would like to display a sample magazine to everyone else. Building the page as a panel, I was able to create a variant with access by the current member role to display the full, current magazine. The default variant displays the sample instead, with some exhorting to join the club to see the full magazine.
This was an easy and flexible solution!
