Not a so good advice
I had read quite many things about multisite, and even redacted that: Local multi-site installation of Drupal 6 on Mandriva .
Nevertheless I couldn't find any presentation about installing multisite with Drupal 7, nor could I managed to have it work on Ubuntu 10.10 . But I did find several unanswered questions in the forum about that.
So if beautifulmind know any "published handbook page" on the subject, please give us the address.

In most cases, the process
In most cases, the process for setting up a D7 multisite install is the same for D6, at least in my experience so far. Could you give more detail as to what's not working for you?
