I'm a Drupal developer who is starting a veg box scheme in London - www.localgreens.org.uk.
I'm intending to build a complete order and payment processing back end, but don't want to reinvent the wheel. Has anyone made a start? Or can recommend modules to use?
thanks,
Therese

good luck
Hi therese,
I'm looking for something not far from what you described in your message, without any result till now.
I only found some messages telling what SHOULD do a drupal module for csa.
I've already built-up a site for my LETS , picking and setting-up modules here and there, but I'm not a drupal developer even if I am interested in learning drupal module development (among other things ... so time is running faster than me).
Let us now about your progress... maybe we could do anything to help.
Nicolas (from the other side of the Channel, as you may have noticed)
modules?
Hi Nicolas,
Thanks for your note.
Can you please let me know what modules you've used, and what worked and what didn't?
I'll document what I use as well. I expect I will base it on views and some sort of customer management and e-commerce modules, but we want to connect to sage accounting and maybe use direct debit for payment.
thanks,
Therese
What I did
Ok, your seem much more experienced than me and I think my LETS needs were very different from those of your veg box scheme.
I didn't have to consider any payment or order. We don't even keep our member's balance of account.
But I'am happy to share my first steps with you.
So I mainly used views, CCK, content_profile and a LETS specialized module wich name is changing often (Complementary currencies aka mutual credit aka ...).
I also used a lot of small modules formatting the content, helping me to administer the website quicker, making the visitor able to send mail to all a group ...
It is a drupal 6 website.
The good point is that I was really suprised to see all I could possibly do with Drupal.
The main problems were : lot of text to translate in french, lot of settings to do to make the modules do what I wanted even if they were not exactly designed for that goal.
Good luck, once again,
Nicolas
ubercart?
@msgreenspike: If http://groups.drupal.org/node/37548#comment-302979 is of any use, I can gladly supply further information.
Although we don't use payment processing (we prefer greasy euros!), Ubercart can and does. Keeping an eye on http://drupal.org/project/commerce for a leap from 6 to 7.
Best,
Michael.
Farm & CSA Site Optimization
Our approach has been to study Drupal 6.X and 7.0 to make sure that we have a list of the most important functions and features that CSA's and farms need for 2 key areas. The first is community services and the second is operational farm tools. We will be making a white paper available soon and will alert you once it is done and available.
Last year, we got set up using 6.X as it was production-ready. Now, we are planning our major Drupal 7 (D7) super duper upgrade. When we launch we will notify you all.
Our farm (Flintlock Farm) and non-profit (The Lost Arts Collaborative) have a mission related to helping other CSA's, farms, and Lost Art communities. So, if you need guidance please let us know.
modules?
Hello Farmerphil,
Would you mind listing the modules you're using? That would be really helpful!
thanks,
Therese
Getting Started List
Hello Therese,
I can send you a copy of our draft white paper which might be the best place to dig in. If you can contact me off-line, I will forward.

Getting Started List 2
Therese,
I should have also mentioned that we are currently converting our list of modules to D7 so we are not yet ready to provide that.

sent an email to flintlock farm
Hi Phil,
I've sent an email via the Flintlock Farm contact form, look forward to seeing the white paper. BTW, I'm using Drupal 6.
thanks!
Therese
Call to arms
Hi!
I posted suggestion about using Commons distribution as a foundation for the real-world community web sites: http://groups.drupal.org/node/219564
Feedback is much appreciated. :)
Sorry for cross-posting, this is just in case somebody is only following this particular thread...
Cheers.
