I would like to have a Drupal event at Perú and did not found more representative place than Machu Picchu, Inca people were genius who constructed a sanctuary upon a rock solid mountain in the meddle of high jungle. It is also a wonderful place for vacations and opportunity to meet people outside U.S. and Europe. Also, Perú was recently qualified with "investment grade", making our country an attractive choice for investment and businesses.
Actually, I'm organizing a local event in September to "prepare the way" for this bigger one, tentative dates are between 15 and 30 October. Perhaps German people can join us after the October fest :)
Will appreciate your comments, suggestions, criticism, etc.
Blessings!

cuy!
I visited Perú in March and only now after learning about local foods to I realize the meaning of develcuy ;)
I'm not sure Machu Pichu itself could support many people and I'm not sure about internet access there, but certainly still in the sacred valley in Cuzco there are both reasonable accommodations and internet access.
It sounds like your goal is to bring in people from around the world, right? If so, I suggest you push the dates a little further into the future and provide some more details. In the mission block (big orange) at the top of this group are a lot of resources about planning a Meet Up of some sort. Providing information on how to get there, where people can stay, and especially any events that will be happening will make it more appealing for people to come down. Often people won't make the decision to attend until some sessions or events are proposed.
Another idea is to make this a "sprint" of some sort. Decide on a topic of interest (i18n?) to the group and then work to get people interested in that subject to come.

(3 John 1:2) Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

Now after first DrupalCamp
Now after first DrupalCamp at Perú, I have more interest on a DrupalCon than a MeetUp but there are stages right? I need the experience of managing a conference with International audience(not just the speeches).
So, I'm going propose another date for this idea. Somebody have interest to help?

It was a bridge event
Yes! One year later, now that I have more experience. The "first" DrupalCamp was precisely a bridge event. Actually, the really first DrupalCamp was this.

2 years after
I've been involved on organizing 5 drupalcamps and now in my first international Drupal event: Drupal Summit Latino, this year I'm learning real team work and wondering about how a volunteer based event can have a fixed date.
Next stage? DrupalCon Southamerica!
