Bloomstreet.net one of the biggest German Drupal sites and probably the biggest German social network built with Drupal was closed a few days ago.
Bloomstreet was certainly not shut down because it was built with Drupal, but, as was reported by German media, venture capitalist Bertelsmann was discontent with Bloomstreet's growth.

According to the article at deutsche-startups.de Bloomstreet.net "only" had 150,000 users, whereas wer-kennt-wen.de another Bertelsmann social networking venture has about 3 million users. It's said to be the cause for focusing on wer-kennt-wen.de and getting rid of Bloomstreet.
