Hi,

Does anyone know a good host that uses PHP5?

Thanks

Serv hosting

I recently moved my demo sites to Serv hosting (http://www.serv.co.za/) and I'm quite happy. No shell access, but Powerful control panel which allows you to compress and extract files on the server, plus you can override php.ini and use .htaccess overrides freely. PHP5 and MySQL 5.

Best of all, currently only R27/month, so it's worth a try.

hetzner

Hetzner have been the hosting company of choice for me, how ever there is a problem with PHP5 atm on their systems. PHP5 is up and running there how ever drupal requires that registered_globals be turned off, and their current setup at the time of writing does not support this. We are currently moving a domain way from them for this how ever they still rock!
- support is from 7am -12pm (all u really need)
- servers are really fast

well thats some of the tips i can lend.

hetzner and php5

Ja, I've always used hetzner but ever since I asked them to upgrade some of my sites to php5, I've had issues as the way they set it up doesn't allow you to override php.ini settings using .htaccess. (like the register globals, memory limit etc.). I'm talking about their shared hosting of course.

Hetzner and php5 redux

I'm not the biggest fan of Hetzner but I won't get into that here.

There is also eConsultant which have a package for R99. Also hosted with Hetzner but with php5 by default, better memory_limit and register_globals turned off.

Or gasp dare I say it DataPoint starting at R20 (Similar to Serv but aimed more towards individual needs. Don't let the site fool you)

And if you really have to stay with Hetzner I have a 'slightly technical' workaround to customise php5's settings contact me if you are interested.

I can't guaranty it will work on shared hosting but I don't see why it wouldn't, although I would prefer you pick one of the options above instead ;-).

Hetzner as well

I have been using hetzner as well and have had no problems thus far.

Seem very good.

Must it be SA?

You didn't specify if/why it must be SA-based?
