Although I don't speak Welsh I would like to get a collection of Welsh translations together for Drupal.
I thought I would play around with the translation modules on my blog last night and installed french, spanish and welsh. French and spanish both had a few hundred core translations, welsh had none and there are no downloadable welsh translations I can see.
Are there any?
Can we do somthing about it?
Do I need to learn welsh?
Help!

If you don't speak Welsh,
If you don't speak Welsh, you'll have to find someone who does. Perhaps you could ask your client to pay for a freelance translator.

Last time I looked there was some talk of a welsh translation, but it never emerged (see here).
You could always set up, host and run a Welsh Localisation Server. Its pretty straight-forward (I've done it once but other commitments meant I couldn't pursue it).
You would, as mvc says, also need one or two (or even a handful) of trusted, fluent Welsh+English speakers to contribute and help moderate.
I'll help
I need a welsh .po file, but have no idea where to start welsh is my first language so if you want some help feel free to contact me

I don't speak a word of welsh, but being a welsh resident I think a Welsh PO file is needed.
I am willing to setup a site and allow users to add translations, I can then export the PO file and commit it to Drupal.org.

Hi Tim, my company has started work on a complete translation for welsh - I hope to get the po files uploaded this side of Christmas if possible, otherwise very early Jan.
Undecided about whether to set up a translation server yet or not - as the plan is for a global drupal one in due course...

Hi James - do you have any news on the Welsh translation? My company may be doing a bilingual English-Welsh site soon, so this would be incredibly useful.
Cheers,
Alex.
Translations complete
Just a quick update, we have all but finished a complete translation of Drupal 6 and all the Acquia modules, and will be releasing it on drupal.org for the community at DrupalCon Paris next week.
Will post a news article on http://www.website-express.co.uk/ when it's live.
All the best,
James
