date problems

miriam's picture

Omar did you purposefully set the event to happen on friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm?

I am not sure if that's a very accecssible time-frame for many people, unless you are planning it to be more of a conference.

The library probably isn't available for a full day event but in the afternoon or evening it would be fine.

miriam

Hmmm... Im open to changing the time...

omar's picture

...but I do know that we'll never find a time for everybody and yes, I would expect it to be a little conference like... Afternoon-into-evening works for me too... Any other people have comments/suggestions regarding this?

Afternoon is better

miriam's picture

I just think there are some peoplew ho will not want to take a full day off work to participate I think keeping it below 7 hrs may be a better idea.

Less programming involved what are we going to DO for 8 hrs? If there's an afternoons worth of solid workshops type activities and then an evening of beer and networking that's probably enough for people IMHO.

maybe we should post a query to the front page to see what other groups are doing.

With respect to Atwater. Since there is already an event here friday night in the main hall we can use the reading room, but not until after the library is closed - so I don't think a daytime or afternoon event will work here so we;'ll have to pick another spot - what about le centre st pierre?

Time changed...

...to 13:00... tring to get a spot at Centre St-Pierre... more news to come... meanwhile, please start getting in touch with your contacts to invite them.

Location finalised: 3720 Parc Avenue

After all, the event will take place at 3720 Parc Avenue (corner desPins)

There's no more excuse to not invite all your contacts :-)

Collection of i18n use case

mathieu's picture

Following this very interesting suggestion, I propose we use some time to collect, write down and describe i18n use cases. As we'll be a bunch of coders, web developpers & users, I think this meeting would be an ideal occasion to do that ... and a very useful contribution.

What do you think?

I think that's a great idea

miriam's picture

Umm... that's all - just a great idea.

What's the word on Centre St Pierre?

Robin Millette also suggested a space but he neglected to tell me where I just emailed him to ask for more details.

An excellent idea!!

I didn't make it to Jose's presentation, unfortunately... but I did go to the one at Govcamp, and the biggest problem there was everyone kind of going, "yeah but it also needs to do this.." and "what about if we have this..." etc. The toughest part is the workflow issues.

So if we could as a group sit down and come up with different things i18n should do and how it should work, that would be excellent! And who knows more about it than Montreal folks? ;)

I'll cross-post over to that group and tell them about this.. maybe we'll have a few more folks show up. :)

some preparation...

mathieu's picture

I found out this book page. That's a start. I think we should elaborate on that, based on our experience with specific multilingual sites.

/me thinks we should all find specific sites we worked on and that we can take a look at to write down specific use cases...

Someone want to make a posting on Drupal.org?

webchick's picture

I can promote it to the front page for you tomorrow if you can't already.

I don't want to actually make the posting because there are at least two FP posts from me right now and I don't want to be a spammer. :P Also I didn't know if you wanted to put the pretty Druplicon kalidescope thing on it like you did before, etc.

Anyway, let me know!

Hey, will be a little late. :(

webchick's picture

I just found out about a conference call I have at 1pm so I won't be able to come until later in the afternoon.

Were just starting now...

omar's picture

... really hope that you can make it.
