Any recommendations on shared hosting vendors? Any things to look out for? I'm looking at a small site that is moving from a static web site.
Thanks, RickG

I have doubts that shared
I have doubts that shared hosting would be adequate for most drupal sites. We normally put our Drupal sites on VPS's at Hostmysite and in a few cases on dedicated servers at Rackspace. Not all VPSs are created equal. We've had some real nightmares at some other providers, but Hostmysite has always been pretty reliable.
I've been running a couple of modest Drupal sites of my own on a shared server at Bluehost. No problems so far, but then they haven't been put under any sort of real load yet.

Things to look for
I found Bluehost by reading mucho reviews online. About a half a dozen kept showing up with great ratings. Bluehost was one. Hostmysite was already being used by my new employer and they've had a very good track record.
I would look for getting the latest versions of MySQL and PHP. The latest major versions are typically faster then the older ones and there are some Drupal modules that require very recent versions of PHP. I had to get an upgrade to PHP on one server because a crucial module required PHP 5.2.+

Hot Drupal has worked well for two small sites recently
Look up Steve at Hotdrupal.com... It's nice to see a host talk specifically about the benefits of focusing on providing good hosting for drupal. Steve also answered the help lines himself the last two times I called - in fact, he kind of talks your ear off being helpful. A nice guy and the sites I put up there have been rock solid. You share a vps with a couple of other sites, and if you grow, he bulks up your vps or moves you to your own slice. Seems to work well.
Hot Drupal
Hot Drupal looks good based on previous discussions here as well. We'll give it a try and report back.

They've got a shared hosting environment specifically tuned for Drupal, recently on the front page of Drupal.org:

Depends
I've been happily using shared hosting for lots of small client websites. But it's only because my hosting company offers shared plans with shell access, otherwise it would be a hassle. I think Drush 2 can't work there though.
