User group meeting

UPDATE: We'll meet the usual place - PariSoMa - 1436A Howard, at 10th St, San Francisco.

The SF Drupal User's Group is meeting next Monday!

We don't have a speaker yet (everyone was away at DrupalCon...)! So please email me or suggest a topic here. You don't have to be an expert or have a presentation prepared. If nothing else, we can have a Szeged feedback session (like news of Webchick becoming the maintainer for Drupal 7!)

Suggestions welcome. Or just come by and we'll talk about what comes up!

Cool, and cool

smokinggoat's picture

Thanks, Tom and Chris, I'll take you up on those offers. I can also go over a few modules I've discovered that are kinda cool.

I still owe this group a screencast of last month's Patterns demo. I've just been slammed this month (can ya tell? )

As always, first 12 get a beer! Soda always available.

Drupal for Firebug Presentation?

populist's picture

I realize it is a little bit last minute for this presentation, but if there is interest at this or the next SFDUG I would be happy to present this developer module I wrote called Drupal for Firebug. It ties in pretty nicely with Devel module and gives a clean separation between debugging information and your drupal site.

I also was on the scene in Hungary and would be happy to share my experiences.

Come on down!

smokinggoat's picture

That would be great. I tell you what - if you either want to a) use my laptop for the demo, b) bring a laptop with some sort of screencasting software, we can record it. Otherwise, we can cover it more at our leisure next time, and just cover a round-up of various topics tonight.

(That damn captcha is so hard to read! ...)

Going for sure!

Hello there, I am an UI designer. I have done a couple of Drupal 5 projects and want to move to Drupal 6. Perhaps you guys can give me some tips to do it painless (I am not that much of a geek). Hope to see you all today!

Thanks,

Gilberto

What time is the meeting?

Thanks! And headphones?

smokinggoat's picture

Wow - a crowd for the last minute Firebug for Drupal presentation. It's all screencaptured - now I just have to get this and last month's Pattern's screencast edited and posted!

BTW - someone left headphones at the meeting. Contact me to get them!

And HHernandez- Yeah, sorry I didn't post the time in the original body, but all events have a Start time at the top of the post. I usually try to make that accurate if nothing else. :-)

Has anyone worked on any of these issues?

socialnicheguru's picture

I don't know if this is the right place, but I would love someone's help in working through the following issues I am facing:

Panels, OG groups, and Domain Access: Tutorials and walk throughs.
Creating panels, mini-panels, and panel nodes. Is this analogous to views or views argument code? I don't understand the argument passing, contexts, or other advanced features.
Doing so in OG groups
Permissions in OG groups vs site permissions
Domain access vs. subdomain

Signup vs ecommerce/Ubercart
Can ecommerce or ubercart be used in place of the signup module? Is there a case study?

Theme issues:
$node->links: How to get certain links to show up where you need them to.
node->signup_view: How to get the signup button to show up where you want it to
Why is IE6 such a pain?
remove status items that appear on the user page (/user) and place them where I want

Modules:
user_import- creates node profiles
viewfield cck- argument passing doesn't seem to work. Ways around this?
CCK permission when using content template- how can you make it work?
account_reminder emails or mass emailing: is there a way to queue mail so your system doesn't overrun?
job_queue- how do you use this without modifying someone else's module?
Creating node profile automatically
Invite module and login toboggin- why do I need to have a validation link sent to someone who I already invited to the site

I am a newbie and these are the issues I am facing. I wonder if I am alone?
