Heya folks,

We got some nice feedback from our quick post looking for Drupal contractors. It's exciting to connect with the community.

It is always interesting to see how people respond to such posts and what information they provide about themselves. As someone running a shop, I make certain assumptions about the info that folks will provide and how they will reach out. Those assumptions could be wrong (hehe, I'm often wrong - and love being told so, so please chime in). But in the interest of helping contractors win gigs, here are some quick thoughts about how you can make a solid impression when trying to get a contract gig, or salaried work, from a Drupal firm:

  • If a job post provides a method of communicating your interest in working with them - use it. No offense, but it's generally intentional. With everything that everyone has going on, it's hard to collate resumes coming in from multiple communication channels. This isn't a huge deal, but if you're trying to impress, it's a simple way to make things easier on the employer, which is appreciated.

  • Code. If you're applying for an engineering position, or even a theming position, employers wanta see code. Point to your GitHub account, D.O. profile, etc.

  • When presenting projects you've worked on - identify the specific contributions that you made on those projects.

  • References - You're not just a Certified to Rock score. Tell us who we can talk with to learn more about your work.

I hope that this info is helpful. Hope to continue to connect with more great PDX Drupal peeps!
