Hey all,
I'm new to the group -- someone here at Yale suggested I sign up. I thought I'd hit up the group and see if there is any interest in helping a relatively new nonprofit LGBTQA student group get off the ground?
The 501(c)(3) nonprofit I run is called oSTEM or "Out in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics." We have 22 chapters and have been looking for a Drupal themer for a while now. Please visit the current site at www.ostem.org
We can't offer much compensation, since the entire organization is nonprofit without salaries -- however, it's a great group of people and I think it would be great for someone's resume.
I'm learning Drupal myself, in hopes of creating the site if needed... and I'd love to find someone who can either teach me or take over altogether.

Eric, if you are keen to learn, let me suggest the Zen theme. It is a base theme, most of which you will never (and shouldn't have to) touch. You will need some CSS knowledge, but with Drupal, you need that anyway. Then sketch out your page layout and use that to create the page.tpl.php template (copied from the base to the subtheme). The Zenophile module can help you create the basic subtheme. It's really not hard. I just did my first one from scratch a few weeks ago and it took maybe 10 hours.

I appreciate the info -- I'm definitely looking to learn. I started with the Zen theme a while back, but now I'm trying to rebuild a fresh one from "scratch." I'm working off the "stark" default, and I've got a Drupal 7 development book that I'm using to self-teach.
There are a few important functionalities that I need to incorporate and I am uncertain if Zen would work down the road.... perhaps it is a useful short term solution though.
