Hey Drupal Developers, please help demonstrate the power of Drupal by building a website for a deserving non-profit in 24 hours on August 20-21 in Chicago. This is the first ever Overnight Website Challenge in Chicago but it won't be the last.

Not sure what this has to do with Git, or why it's cross-posted. However, you might want to have a look at what we did in Toronto. We had prospects come in and pitch their project, chose one and started working at the same time.

Sorry for being unclear
Sorry cleaver, should have explained that a main focus (for me at least) will be how can developers use git over the lifetime of a project to make the points of integrations between developers painless. A major problem my company currently has is how do we develop Drupal sites quickly and how can we incorporate the works of team members who don't have (and shouldn't need) a strong knowledge about the way Drupal does things. My colleague is going to have a talk about the topic at the upcoming Drupal conference in the Twin Cities.
I should have at least put a few words about this in my original post.

Wow, what a great concept, I would love to have a crack at getting something like this off the ground in Europe. Do you guys have much documentation etc that you might be willing to share, could we tee up a meeting and discuss your events.
Are the results from the Twin Cities challenge viewable anywhere?
FYI I've been doing pro-bono work for years for various NGO's and non-profits, so I'd really like to see where we could take this.

Hi everyone, I just recently discovered the Chicago group on drupal.org site. Didn't know there was a Chicago branch. Well here I am, I'm a Drupal/php dev with a small business in Harvard Illinois. I look forward to talking, possibly working or interacting with you guys. I've been working with drupal almost solidly for the last 4 years. Hopefully my presence here will be a good one. just submitted a non-profit for consideration
I'd like to propose a new website for Working Bikes [1].
Working Bikes is a fantastic organization with a tired old Drupal website (running on 4.7 - !).
The bikegeeks [2] have (mostly) spec'd out which will serve to highlight Working Bike's humanitarian efforts to fix up old, discarded bicycles and ship them to developing nations to serve as basic transportation. And for those here in Chicago, Working Bikes also sells fixed-up, 'working' bikes locally, for low cost, to help raise local awareness, provide transportation for Chicagoans, and raise money to further their mission.
We have some neat ideas for a web-site but don't have the capacity to build it at this point.
(And BTW: if someone wants to work on a new website for WB, I'm sure I could get them to offer you your choice of fixed-up bikes from their mountains (literally) of donated bikes -- some of them are very nice...)

and submit a testimonial. I have also created a very Drupal-centric site specification based on some conversations we've had with stakeholders. You can see the spec in the first testimonial on the above link.
I wish I could join the Drupal team ( chi2011.overnightwebsitechallenge.com/teams/37 ) team but if we're selected I'll be working with whatever team in the implementation. If staying up all night doesn't kill me, my wife will -- we have two kids including a 7 mos old and I imagine she won't be too keen on me staying up all night for a project like this. :^)

Are there more non-profits applying?
So far I only see two nonprofits on the site. Have more applied and just not been posted or is there a lack of applications?
I actually went through several lists of local orgs, looked at all their websites, and wrote individual emails to the ones with websites that looked like they could use assistance. I have not heard back from any of them at all and it doesn't look like any of them have applied.

We were finalists!
We came, we worked, we made the final four!
Our non profit, A Safe Haven, has a revamped site in a near completed state thanks to the contributed time of several of Chicago's finest drupal developers. The project called for the tight integration of Drupal 7 and Civicrm 4 and it was a big challenge for us.
