I'm sorry, but I'm going to
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to miss this meeting, too. Unfortunately, I hurt my back again about a week before our August meeting, and I am still not able to make the trip to Orlando. Hopefully, I'll be able to make the meeting next month.

Wow, I have to say that I am
Wow, I have to say that I am glad this was my first Drupal Group meeting and look forward to more in the future. I hope that maybe more designers will be able to join our group and maybe we can have a discussions focused around design and interface with Drupal. I have of late started learning how to best use the Zen template, but I am sure there are many experts out there that could share their valuable experience!

You missed theming in July.
You missed theming in July. I presented about lots of theming stuff (on my birthday).
Right now, I am basing all my templates on Blueprint - in addition to clean, css-friendly design, it also has some useful Drupal "hacks" in it - the good kind of hacks.

Zen
I tend to use zen for my work. The "do it with drupal" meeting may be worthwhile. One of the projects I recently undertook involved porting a mature site on a proprietary CMS into drupal.
You may consider taking a site you find of interest and doing it with drupal -- by the time you've duplicated the look exactly, you'll more or less be an expert with manipulating the zen theme.
