Thanks to all that showed up for the IRC planning session... and my apologies for 10 minute late delay.
The agenda for the June 15 meeting is tentatively set as:
6:30-7:00 Meet and Greet
7:00-7:10 Announcements / Job openings
7:10-7:30 Tim S - TriDUG logo update/discussion
7:30-8:30 Alan F - AHAH presentation
8:30-9:00 (if time) Quick problem Go Around
9:00- Mellow Mushroom
Other notes:
Shinzou - Volunteered to talk on Services Module and possibly some Services-> iPad magic in July
Raleigh CityCamp - http://citycampral.org/ is happening June 3, 4, and 5th. Would be nice if some Drupalers were there at least on Saturday 4th for the open topics area.
Lunch and Learn - Finally got a dialog started with ATC Underground folks... but they may still want a small fee to use it.... need to set up meeting with them Face 2 Face (hopefully with JuliaK since she was interested in running these...).
Here's the full chat log:
01[14:11] <CGMonroe> Hey... sorry meeting prior went over01[14:11] <CGMonroe> People here for TriDUG planning?
[14:12] <timswezy> present
[14:12] <shinzou> Hi, and yes, I'm here for the planning
01[14:13] <CGMonroe> OK, basic format is probably stil the same for this
01[14:13] <CGMonroe> 6:30-7:00 meet and greet
[14:14] <Paulthed> yes
[14:14] <Paulthed> present
01[14:14] <CGMonroe> 7:00-7:10ish Announcements/ Job opportunities
01[14:14] <CGMonroe> Tim - Update on logo?
[14:15] <timswezy> working on the next revision after everyone's comments/suggestions I think I can present something next time ~15mins or so
01[14:16] <CGMonroe> Next = June 15th right
[14:16] <timswezy> I don't think anyone I'm related to is giving birth then, so I should be able to make it
[14:16] <timswezy> right
01[14:16] <CGMonroe> lol
01[14:16] <CGMonroe> K - so 7:10-7:30ish logo...
01[14:17] <CGMonroe> Any volunteer on presentation?
03[14:17] * shibby (~jhibbets@99-12-165-11.lightspeed.rlghnc.sbcglobal.net) has joined #drupal-nc
01[14:18] <CGMonroe> hey..
[14:18] <Druplicon> privet
[14:18] <shinzou> I can present about the Services module in July, but June is too busy for me
01[14:18] <CGMonroe> @shibby - you haven't missed much since my meeting before ran 10 over...lol
01[14:19] <CGMonroe> That would be in raliegh... that OK?
[14:19] <04shibby> CGMonroe, sorry I'm late. Flight got in this morning and been running around
[14:19] <shinzou> CGMonroe: you asking me for Raleigh?
01[14:20] <CGMonroe> Yes
[14:20] <shinzou> sure, I can do that
[14:20] <shinzou> I should have an iPad demo in July as well
[14:20] <shinzou> Drupal --> iPad
01[14:20] <CGMonroe> You catch that jason? shinzou in July?
[14:21] <04shibby> CGMonroe, yes, sounds great!
01[14:21] <CGMonroe> Hmm Drupal-->Ipad.. as client or hosting drupal on iPad?
[14:21] <shinzou> ha, client
01[14:22] <CGMonroe> Any topics folks might want to see in June?
[14:22] <shinzou> iPad talking to a Drupal backend through Services
01[14:22] <CGMonroe> @shinzou: Kewl
[14:22] <04shibby> do we know if timswezy will have another round of logo updates?
[14:23] <timswezy> yep, 7:10-7:30ish
06[14:23] * shibby looks forward to it :)
[14:23] <timswezy> me too
01[14:23] <CGMonroe> Schedule so far: Meet/Greet 6:30-7:00 Announcements/Jobs: 7:00-7:10 Logo: 7:10-7:30ish
01[14:24] <CGMonroe> Allen said he had some presentation ideas.. but havent caught up with him
[14:24] <04shibby> did we want to do an intro to Drupal or wait until the fall?
[14:24] <04shibby> allen said if he had an hour, that he had a topic
[14:25] <04shibby> the one from last month
[14:25] <shinzou> it was about AHAH
01[14:25] <CGMonroe> The AhAh stuff?
[14:25] <Paulthed> I would be willing to present whenever we do an "intro to drupal" meeting., since I'm still relatively new to Drupal
01[14:25] <CGMonroe> lol stereo
[14:25] <shinzou> AHAH = Drupal AJAX
01[14:26] <CGMonroe> Another alternative I've been thinking about doing is "Understanding Drupal Modules for non-programmers"
[14:26] <Paulthed> @CGMonroe, I'll second that
01[14:27] <CGMonroe> Basically, a quick overview of the files and how to find things like URLs they supply, blocks and theme calls.
01[14:27] <CGMonroe> Done this informally for a couple of designers here.
[14:28] <timswezy> I'd be interested in that too, esp. as a designer
[14:28] <Paulthed> would definitely enjoy hearing that
01[14:29] <CGMonroe> Hmm, but if we go with the "tutorial thread" starting with a Drupal overview might be best
01[14:30] <CGMonroe> Thinking outloud... I could probably include a very quick overview of Drupal at the start of this
01[14:31] <CGMonroe> E.g. not going into install details but highlight what core, modules, blocks, and themes are at a high level
02[14:32] * @bshumate (~bshumate@ubuntu/member/bshumate) Quit (Quit: Oo.)
01[14:33] <CGMonroe> So, AHAH or me rambling on... or others?
[14:33] <04shibby> then go with Allen's preso on AhAh....
[14:33] <shinzou> I think highlighting the unique Drupal components, or what makes up a Drupal site would be good
[14:33] <04shibby> here's an idea...not sure if it would work. Maybe we could do a "how'd they do that" session
[14:34] <shinzou> that's a good idea
[14:34] <04shibby> we pick a few website's that we know are using Drupal...perhaps one that folks in TriDUG are deploying
[14:34] <04shibby> and we could talk about theming / modules / etc
[14:34] <04shibby> and discuss how it works on the backend
[14:35] <Paulthed> I think it's a good idea as well
[14:35] <04shibby> this would be something we could repeat every few meetings when we have short presentations
[14:35] <shinzou> that would definitely be a more interactive meeting format, I like it
01[14:35] <CGMonroe> This goes along with another meetup fillin favorite... the problem go-round
01[14:37] <CGMonroe> Re: - How'd they do that... like it but some sites may be hard to "reverse engineer" on the fly
01[14:37] <CGMonroe> but that's part of the fun.
[14:37] <04shibby> CGMonroe, I was thinking we'd have folks who could prepare for it instead of on the fly
[14:37] <04shibby> perhpas that would be an intersteing way to bring in guest presentors or something via dial-in
[14:38] <04shibby> or webcast (once we figure that out)
[14:38] <04shibby> I know we could do that at the Red Hat location
[14:38] <04shibby> anyway....
[14:39] <04shibby> back to the June agenda
[14:39] <timswezy> I think Lullabot has done something similar on their Drupalize.me site, except they make Flickr, or another popular web app/site using Drupal, from a Camp, haven't seen them though
[14:39] <04shibby> I think we should keep it simple and just go with Allen's presentation
01[14:39] <CGMonroe> Works for me
01[14:40] <CGMonroe> Any objections to Alan doing his AhAh stuff in June?
[14:41] <Paulthed> @timswezy I saw one where they cloned Basecamp and another when they cloned Stack Overflow
[14:42] <timswezy> if he could give a quick ramp-up, so n00bs like me can follow along that would be great, basic definition of terms, etc.
[14:42] <timswezy> too many acronyms make the baby go blind

[14:44] <04shibby> CGMonroe, i've got to sign-off. Can you post the chat log to the group with the final agenda?
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> K
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> 6:30-7:00 Meet and Greet
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> 7:00-7:10 Announcements / Jobs opening
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> 7:10-7:30 Time S - Logo
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> 7:30-8:30 Alan F - AHAH
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> 8:30-9:00 Close / quick problem go around
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> 9:00- Mellow Mushroom
01[14:44] <CGMonroe> Is what it looks like now
[14:45] <04shibby> I think that looks good, adding in 7:30-8:30 for AhAh
01[14:45] <CGMonroe> Jason - before you go... citycamp update?
[14:46] <04shibby> it's happening!
[14:46] <04shibby> to be honest, I haven't checked email in a week
[14:46] <04shibby> so the best update would be on the citycampral.org website
01[14:46] <CGMonroe> lol true vacation time
[14:46] <04shibby> is there any particular question you have CGMonroe ?
[14:47] <04shibby> oh yes, it was a true vacation, other i somewhat kept up with social media
01[14:47] <CGMonroe> Just if any more thoughts on TriDUG needs
[14:47] <04shibby> we have a good number of sponsirs now for citycamp and almost finalized the speaking line-up
[14:47] <04shibby> I think for now, TriDUG folks should plan to participate if they want to
01[14:48] <CGMonroe> You talked about a Mini-Barcamp session on one day
[14:48] <04shibby> I think the best thing to do is to review the ideas submitted here (and submit othersl where Drupal might fit....)
02[14:48] * babs4104 (600a0d65@gateway/web/freenode/ip.96.10.13.101) Quit (Quit: Page closed)
[14:49] <04shibby> http://www.google.com/moderator/#16/e=6c3d9
[14:50] <04shibby> CGMonroe, that will be Saturday, June 4th
[14:50] <04shibby> that would be an opportunity to either go with on of the ideas on the link above or generate new ideas for people to discuss
01[14:50] <CGMonroe> K.. if folks want to attend this, do we need to register.
[14:51] <04shibby> the way I believe it works (with an unconference) is that you make the agenda on the spot and let people gravitate towards what they want to work on and what they are passionate about
[14:51] <04shibby> yes, we are asking that everyone register so that we can get an accurate headcount
01[14:52] <CGMonroe> K - Just trying to get some info into the notes.
[14:52] <04shibby> and also, if people could spread the work, that always helps
01[14:52] <CGMonroe> Do you think we should have a separate posting on triDUG about this? To call it out and get others interested
[14:52] <04shibby> CGMonroe, yes, I can post the press release that we distributed last week
[14:53] <04shibby> I just ran out of time before I left
[14:53] <04shibby> I'll try to do that tomorrow or Friday
01[14:53] <CGMonroe> K - the 3rd coming up fast...lol
[14:54] <04shibby> yes, yes it is
01[14:54] <CGMonroe> FYI - I have had an e-mail conversation with the Underground meeting room person
[14:54] <04shibby> is it looking good?
01[14:54] <CGMonroe> She's saying she needs to cover "cleaning costs" right now but want to meet
[14:55] <04shibby> that may be easily resolved by getting a sponsor for the meeting
[14:55] <04shibby> bit cool that we're finding out more about it
01[14:55] <CGMonroe> I need to get with JuliaK (who's volunteer to do these) and meeting with her together
01[14:56] <CGMonroe> Figure it's better to have the principals together rather than being an intermediary..lol
01[14:56] <CGMonroe> Anyway, I think this covers all our business... I Move to close the meeting if there are no objections
01[14:58] <CGMonroe> Thanks for all who showed up... sorry about the delay starting. Later all
[14:58] <timswezy> bye
[14:58] <Paulthed> bye
02[14:58] * timswezy (~timswezy@adsl-74-242-250-128.rmo.bellsouth.net) Quit (Quit: timswezy)
[14:59] <04shibby> cya!
[14:59] <Druplicon> later!
