As I am new to Drupal and while looking for groups to help me learn and find contributions for my particular needs I was surprised to find no "Demographic" Group Type. Of the five types that do exist Geographic, Event Planning, Archive, Distribution and Working Group - none work serve Demographic based websites or development.
A Demographic group type would help to facilitate searching and organization of general discussions around development of particular demographic sectors such as Teaching, Education, Cafes, Golf, Sports, Religion, Politics, Programming, JSON, REST. Many sites have a primary focus and require content development and drivers specifically geared toward their needs. A Demographics group would help to drive developers to their more specific needs.
I know this isn't the right place to pose this, but I'm at a loss as to where to send this suggestion. There is no obvious "Drupal Group" that provides a venue for handling suggestions for Drupal groups. I hope this eventually gets to the right audience.

I re-posted this to the group
I re-posted this to the group for discussing this site.
Some groups like this exist as working groups - http://groups.drupal.org/higher-education http://groups.drupal.org/libraries http://groups.drupal.org/churches and even http://groups.drupal.org/sailing - but they are focused around using Drupal to build sites to serve that community.
Is that the kind of thing you want to have a group for? I think "working group" makes sense for those.

I think "working group" makes sense...
I can see how "working group" would be chosen for those types of sites as there isn't a better choice. "Working group" is awfully vague though and so it has attracted a hodge-podge of groups. "Demographic" infers a more direct reference to the audience of a site.
Maybe I don't fully understand the purpose of the group type and why it has so few selections. More selections would appear to facilitate organization, searching and moderation.
No matter the outcome thanks for re-posting.
