No, I use taxonomy lists and views etc instead.

Can someone point me to a post that explains how to do this ?

see gordon's comment about views.

using taxonomy is just getting a node list for a particular category eg: http://example.com/taxonomy/term/99

I vote "NO" use views...

I think that in general, the ecommerce module should trim off functionality that is better served by core modules, views or CCK. Aim towards being a modular framework rather than turn key package. Views has much more power than anything that could (or should!) be built in. For those who are not developers I think that best thing you could do is have an ecommerce distribution ready to go. If a newbie using this platform ever wanted to dig in further, he or she could learn how to use and theme Views, a skill that could be used system wide.

My 2 cents.

This is the way that we have

This is the way that we have gone.

However you do not need to know anything about views to get the default products page. (http://example.com/product).

All you do is install and both views and ecviews and the product page will be there. Then if you want you can then edit this default view and change it to meet your own requirements.

You do not need to know anything about views to get the default product page in the product module running.
