I have a current music store that I would like to migrate to Drupal 7. Would Ubercart be the best solution? I am currently receiving audio directly from digital distributor via FTP with an XML file included in the folder of audio files. What would be the best way to integrate the meta data from the XML file to fill the album, artist, track, label, etc in the music store as well as the audio as file downloads (zip) and audio previews for each track.
I have set up a test install of drupal 7 with the prosper theme, ubercart 2, soundmanager, jplayer, so far. Thanks for any ideas on the best modules to be using and if the XML integration is currently possible. Looking to bulk upload about 50 albums, but then to scale to 500, 1000, etc.

Thanks Gus. Going to check these out and test. Also very interested in the playlist functionality you have mentioned before. I wonder if Soundcloud will work with D7 in the near future.
Commerce file now in beta
There's now a beta version of Commerce file and some work being done to integrate with Media module. All in all, this ecommerce element would make for a key feature in the Pushtape music publishing platform.

What this hasn't touched on is importing the metadata from the included XML file. I would consider looking at Feeds module to do this. The Feeds module uses a pluggable Fetcher, Parser, Processor architecture. You probably need a custom "Fetcher" plugin to retrieve the files, then using an XML parser (xpath?) that may already exist, and the node mapper "Processor".
