For all the beginners in Drupal, please try using Acquia Drupal. It's easy to install and has all the basic features for building your first website. It's built on Drupal 6.x. I tried installing it and it is as smooth as a hot knife on butter.

Thanks DL. I tried it also just this morning and as you said, smooth and easy as a hot knife on butter.

If they could only package the database creation part in the installation.... :p

Security risk

Do they do that in other CMS brands? That would actually be pretty easy to implement but that would also be considered a huge security risk since you would be required to send in your database root/admin username and password over the wire for database creation and the assignment of schema rights and privileges to the assigned database user. Hmm...

Drupal can implement that as an optional step in the installation process but they (Drupal team) would have to write an awful lot of security warnings if this particular step is going to be executed by the CMS implementor. On the other hand and come to think of it, even the Drupal database username and password is also being sent over the wire upon installation anyways so I guess the debate on sending key server-local authentication codes over the wire apparently isn't so much of a deal.

You may want to post this thing as an additional feature to Drupal 7 if this isn't in the implementation queues yet.
