Comment whitelist – should it be released?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hello world,

I have written a small module for maintaining a whitelist of anonymous users who are allowed to skip comment approval queue based on name/email combination, with possibility of automatic add/delete on admin publishing/deleting comments.

I have some doubts regarding whether this should ever be released. Essentially, they boil down to guessing if:

a) nobody really needs this;

b) on the contrary, it is going to be declared 'duplicate';

c) as this replicates a known Wordpress feature, it is prone to be exploited, and replicating Wordpress is generally non comme il faut.

Any opinions and rotten tomatoes welcome. :)

If this is not duplication, a module like this would be awesome! Super useful for moderated sites.

Please, do release it after checking.

Sounds like a useful module. Duplicating WordPress isn't an issue; it's duplicating other existing Drupal modules that is frowned on.

This has now been submitted for review, expect it to be released around Christmas. :)

Meanwhile, testers and suggestions welcome.

Now a full project!

The first dev release of Comment whitelist is out of the brewery... and it's not Christmas yet. :)

Thanks to everyone who helped.
