So, I know this is ridiculously early, and yet at the same time all the early bird tickets are basically sold out.
I was asked to propose a session for DrupalCon DC 2009 to help launch the website -- it's Practical Semantic Web and Why You Should Care (aside: Jim Pick is kicking off Semantic Vancouver, event on Upcoming).
I missed Hungary (my first one I missed ever!) and I really would like to go to DC.
So: who's interested in going (leave a comment). Let's talk about getting some quantity discounts. The most logical place to start would be on accommodation. I'm going to be contacting the DC guys and seeing about the possibility of renting a house for a week, or something equally large. YMCA?
Anyone that is interested in collaborating on travel, let me know. We need to share info on flights, timeline, etc.

A bunch of us at RCS are heading out for Drupalcon. I've already scoped out some flights which range from $520 - $600 round trip. There are a bunch of others but I don't think anyone feels the need to sit in a plane for 12 hours just to fly across the country :) I'll be in DC next week for work so I'll be with some locals scoping out the area.
Lets keep this updated with accommodation and flight details/pricing.

Sent an email to hostel
To see about reserving a 10 person room for 7 days (2nd to 9th). 7 x 10 x 40 = 2800 ... still feels like we should be able to get a whole house for that amount ....
Anyone up to riding down to
Anyone up to riding down to Seattle and catching the plane from there?
I checked out Continental and round trip amounts to ~CAD$300 (also Northwest and Delta are in the same range).
Also SteveK and I will be in Washington DC this coming week, so we can scope around. Boris have a list?

found a potential apartment
found a potential apartment nearby to rent for the week. it's a 1br (queen bed + also a queen air mattress), but if i'm gonna share it, i'd really like to share with quieter roomie(s) who don't want to stay up all night! ;-) anyone interested, pls email me asap. it's one metro stop away, or about 1.5km walk from the convention ctr. i know there's probably going to be big groups in the hotels, but none of the ones nearby seem to have any cooking facilities which i really need... this place is $150/night
alrighty, consider that
alrighty, consider that booked and full. it's in the dupont circle neighbourhood, 1.5km from the convention centre and looks really nice, and there seems to be lots of other apartments around there for short-term rentals. it'd be fun if we were all in the same 'hood!
here's some other apartments and b&b's i found but didn't contact that you might want to check out:
