Hey all - I'm travelling from the south of NZ to London for DrupalCon, and a fellow Kiwi who lives there recommended staying in Brighton rather than Croydon.
I'd welcome any local knowledge or suggestions for hotels & great places to stay during my first week in the UK.

...and here's me wishing I had enough readies to go to australia and new zealand... will make it sometime soon!
I live in Brighton and will probably be getting the train up each day - takes about 35/40 mins. Unfortunately trains at that time of day are going to be about £40 per day return - was contemplating sharing a twin room in a hotel in Croydon but sounds like they're all fairly booked up already.
There's plenty of hotels/B&B's in Brighton, and you're also more than welcome to sofa space here @purkisshq - I live in North Laine, about 4 mins walk to the train station.
A popular conference-type hotel is MyHotel but it's not cheap - I'm not up-to-date with which B&Bs are best but there's bound to be some recommendations if you search the Brighton New Media list archive https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/brightonnewmedia
